And that's why listening to ignorant tourneyfags makes for worse game design.

I agree that FSV needs more defensive options, and it is dumb that some characters can't play footsie, but the plinking combos had to go. Sure, tourneyfags are mad cause muh one-frame combos, but the majority of players (some who have been playing for a long time and with decent ability) didn't care for them. Plus the game became more fundamental now that there are less OSs, If I shimy on you, I deserve to take 40% of your health.

Boxer and Urien are retarded tho. Is not close to be the best SF

SFV really needs an update solely for defensive options. Fucking hell, something as simple as V-counters doing actual damage instead of grey health could help a lot.

I still can't believed someone looked at SFV Boxer and said "yup, this is good"

Anyone who thinks lowering the skill floor of a fighting game automatically thinks it removes options or lowers the skill ceiling is retarded. You providing games designed by retards is not a good example.

I know retards will shitpost in response to this but whatever you think of Skullgirls it manages to have an extremely high ceiling while pretty much being playable to any dumb ass who tries as long as they put forth literally any effort.
>>
>>379061540
The problem is not lowering the skill floor, tekken has always done that for example, it deosn't make the game any less deep. No, the real issue is lowering the skill floor and ceiling at the same time, it creates an accessible game with no depths and a stupid low amount of options.

No matter how you look at things fighting games have always been about learning and investing time in them that's why they're so niche, you can make theme more accessible without losing depth look at gg skullgirls or tekken for example but removing that skill ceilng with its complexity and depth creates pieces of shit like SFV
>>
>>379061995
Skullgirls fundamentally broke all semblance of actual ease by making itself a 3v3 heavy fighter with tons of tools on zoners and grapplers.

It's like getting a tutorial for KOF98 but then it shifts to SF2 Rainbow in a real match.

what's wrong with you? Can't you just say Balrog?
>>
>>379059060
Yes. I wish companies were content with developing for a dedicated audience. This bi push for MAX PLAYER = MAX MONEY is really ruining the integrity of video game development. That said Skull Girls probably sold like shit so maybe there really just isn't a strong enough market for fighters.
>>
>>379062430
Bison*
>>
>tfw I find salty bet more fun than watching tournaments now a days
>>
The casualization limited its fight system.

For example, each character has only like 3 combos, and all of them are so easy pull off that it gets boring really fast. You end up doing the same shit again and again. And then you watch the pros play and they do the same shit because there's isn't anything else to do.

What differences a pro from a casual player in SFV is the footsies and their ability to hit confirm and nothing else.
>>
SFV is so frustrating to play. It feels like you can easily get an experienced player down to at least 50% by just mashing.
>>
Not really to be honest.
I mean, I love the challenge of fighting games, but street fighter is the most recognizable series in the genre and everyone and their mother plays it.

It makes sense that it should be fairly easy to get into.
>>
>>379059249
It's simple, I made a habit of disliking their garbage every time they start shilling.
>>
>>379061538
whats that?
>>
>>379059060
Casualizing anything is a mistake. I have nothing against giving people tools to help them learn the game better, but don't make it make the game easier in hopes it'll appeal to more people.
>>
omg guys SFV is soooooooo terrible how could capcom get away with this? :'(((
>buys all the DLC and watches every event
>>
>>379059060

yes of course it did

all it did was alienate long time fans while also completely failing to bring new fans into the series because the people who want more casualized games don't want to play anything competitive in the first place because it requires you to actually learn and practice things

yeah it was a big fucking mistake

They had it right first (second) time with SFII.

It's not bloated with a 44 character roster and there aren't a ton of mechanics, it's just purely a game of skill.

It's kinda funny how SFIV and SFV take way less skill with all their additional mechanics.

I don't know man, when you have to autistically train to play a game even at a very low level, it makes sense for the people who already love the genre and spend their time doing that, but for people new to the genre and scene it makes zero sense...

Its one of the reasons why I stopped playing fighting games with friends and even buying fighting games, its not fun anymore, you lose 100% of the time and unless you spend as much time as them you will have ZERO fun.

I'm not complaining here, just saying that if the audience of dedicated players is enough to keep the game, then fair enough, but I understand why they would try to make it easier to get into.

Even shit like Dota or Lol are fairly "easy" to get into because you play with a lot of people and your actions don't matter that much when you're learning, you can be carried for example by a better player. But fighting games have none of that, you're either good and have fun or you're bad and have no fun.

Also fighting game intusiasts are the most autistically and retarded people I've ever seen, I remember being on an event one day and there was this guy (adult, like 38 yold or some shit) just raping everyone on SF4, then comes a kid and asks him to go easy on him or at least let him get the controls, the guy just got two perfects and the kid left with such an expression I kid you not, I got sad for him.

My 2 cents.
>>
>>379066058
70 percent of the fighting game fanbase in the 90s was casuals.

They left when the boom ended. Or went to smash to become hardcore smash players.
