I remember thinking to myself "It's probably good but there is no way it lives up to the hype or surpasses the previous games." I think about ten hours in I realized it was better than the other two and about thirty hours in I realized it was one of the best games of all time. Not memeing or exaggerating hate on me all you want for liking something, the shit is actually that damn good.

I can't stomach the atmosphere, it's really wooden in its attempt to make you feel like the world and its sufferings are real.

I always feel lost in the story because there's so many monsters, factions, old flames, existential/political problems, and yet Geralt is an expert from the outset on all of it so the only way you discover them is through his dry and near constant exposition.

The gameplay is completely flat in witcher 3. All you do is cast Quen and spam light attack. That's. It.

Everything else is 9/10 but whats the point of playing the game if the fucking gameplay is its worst part.

Books are better and the netflix series is the thing that i am most hyped for when it comes to witcher.

I got half-way through and then got tired of following quest markers and detective vision instead of actually inhabiting the game world and exploring.

It's a great game. If you like other, similar games (open world, RPG, story-driven, real-time combat) you will like The Witcher 3.
If you don't want to play the previous two games (the first one is pretty fucking hard to get in to, and the second is better but still kinda janky), you would benefit by reading the story lines of them. There are so many returning characters that their names need to be at least somewhat familiar. That being said, The Witcher 3 was made with new-comers in mind, so it's totally playable regardless.

The GOTY goes on sale occasionally. You can find it somewhere for cheap, I'm sure.

Because the gameplay isn't really that great, all the Points of Interest are mostly the same crap over and over again with a few differences, and I hate the Witcher Sense.

I played the game 5 hours and hated it.

After now over 100 hours I can say that this is the best game I have ever played.

But the game is not for everyone. I also think the The Wither story is mediocre at best. The game is so great because of the graphic, waifus, side quests, and gameplay. I know that the gameplay is really hard to like, but after I got into it, I lioved it.

If I would describe The Witcher 3 I would say it is a 3d visual novel with exploration and god tier side quests. The main quest is also great, but it's more or less "rescue Ciri and beat the bad guys".

TW1 is better than TW2. It doesn't rush you along and the environments and atmosphere was just much better. You want to explore every thing. In TW2, it seems like CDPR tried to make it a cinematic experience, the gameplay wasn't as smooth. I don't know about anyone else but I also preferred the combat in TW1 more. It felt very fluid and the different stances were nice to use.

It's a good game and one of the best to come out in the last few years. Blood and Wine is one of the best DLCs made in terms of value, emulating the days when DLCs were called expansions rather than bit-sized snacks.

Because it is. The Witcher games were always as shitty as the source matrial, but 3 Got undeserved hype thanks to being featured at Sony's E3 in a drought year.
