And yes, that was ignorant of me to say that it won by diversity alone, but I got bored of Overwatch very quickly, a lot faster than most people probably. The game's too built around being casual friendly, and there's nothing to characters outside of their kits, and anything that would prove to actually take skill gets taken out, like Genji's extra jump he got from wall-climbing or whatever. What you see is what you get, and while that means each character is easy to play and master, there's no real skill ceiling so to speak, and it also means that matches always end up playing out the same way, and it usually becomes a waiting game of who springs their ult first or last.

Part of the fun of the first was getting a titan and shutting down the entire other team, picking off one titan at a time while remaining full health. Now you're guaranteed to take decent damage from all but the shittiest of pilots.

I like both, I would play TF2 more often if Nitro CTF wasn't so dead. Literally every time I try queueing for CTF Nitro I get a 10 minute wait that ends up resetting anyway then I just go back to playing BF1.

I'd say BF1 has more longevity because of how it plays out, but both games are lots of fun and I don't see myself quitting either for good in a long time.

I still play Titanfall 2 on PS4 and I still think it's easily one of the best multiplayer shooters to come out in a long time. You'll never have trouble finding a match, although on especially slow nights you might run into the same couple of people every now and then. The worst I've had is playing with the same three guys for about four games in a row. One of my bigger problems with Titanfall 2 is how strong map control can become. There's this one map, Drydock, where it's possible to force one team to always spawn in a particular area, and then it's like fish in a barrel from then on. Capture the Flag is also easily ruined when one team wants to be a complete faggot and defend the enemy's flag, preventing that team from ever really participating since they'll die as soon as they spawn. It's rare for the most part, but really annoying nonetheless. Thankfully, Attrition and Bounty Hunt aren't as easily abused and are the most popular modes.

Battlefield 1 is pretty good. I definitely think it's one of the better Battlefield games to come out in a while, far better than BF3 and 4. Guns feel great, the maps are designed really well, vehicles are powerful but fragile, and it all feels really good. Just keep in mind that it's mostly more of the same; if you've played a recent Battlefield game then just expect a similar but better experience. I don't know about the population since I haven't played it since launch.

Monarch feels like a hard counter to Tone imo, she can just rush through the shield wall and tank the damage with energy siphon.
The change to how shields prevent you from doing a finisher has really thrown off my Ion game though, I relied on that to stay alive and used to play super aggressively with the beam splitter.
The shoulder laser doesn't bother me because I only ever used that to kill pilots.

They changed it so that if a Titan is in doomed state, and still has a sliver of shields left, you can't execute it. They did that for Monarch's benefit obviously, but it means that my personal Ion strategy of tearing people up with the beam splitter and then surviving through execution invulnerability phases has been nerfed to shit.

He also requires more energy to use the shoulder laser.

Really enjoyed it. Most of these FPS campaigns are pretty forgettable, including the BF games, but they really stepped up their storytelling in this game. Not perfect, but engaging and I cared for many of the characters. Oh, awesome hearing The Pogues during the credits, too :)

Shame it's so short, but that's par for course. One thing I like about the Far Cry games is that they have a robust singleplayer component, at the expense of the lack of any real or decent multiplayer. Used to be Far Cry games for single player, BF/CoD for multiplayer, but I hope BF keeps this kind of quality up.

Titanfall 2 might not have as many players as BF1 but they're much less retarded and you'll have a fun time not getting steam rolled every other round due to shitty team mates.

The learning curve is pretty steep but that's a good thing since it makes the weak give up and stop playing.

Well Respawn had big hopes for Titanfall as an IP and franchise but EA just didn't support it enough with marketing and whatnot.

It was a niche type of game to pickup the players that BF1 and COD didn't attract.

It's alive but only Attrition. The other game modes aren't popular enough.

I blame the lowest common denominator called stupidity.

Nevertheless, Titanfall 2 is seriously fucking great. You won't regret it.

I think people honestly just have bad taste.

Look at Overwatch which people seem to be comparing it to, a game with an extremely low skill ceiling and an even lower barrier to entry that's designed to reward bad players and keep them sinking hours into it. Incredibly slow combat, massive AoE ults that charge on a timer so even the worst player can get some cheap kills and feel accomplished, shooting mechanics that might as well not be there and seem to be built around the assumption that the players just can't hit anything. That's to say nothing of the magnetic aim correction, the overly generous hitboxes, the map choke points, etc.

Titanfall's fast-paced, skill-based movement system that requires practice and investment to master, even moreso when combined with the pilot abilities like the speed boost or the grapple, it's very high skill ceiling and a significant barrier to entry that can turn off a lot of new players. Couple that with a large number of weapons that have travel time on their projectiles and just the most basic movement and shooting becomes a fucking ballet of death where everyone has to be thinking ten steps ahead while maintaining the situation awareness of a jumping spider.

I feel like most players these days aren't interested in things like Quake or Tribes, they don't have the time or the motivation to git gud, and they just want to play an hour of Overwatch or CoD after work and be spoonfed store-brand accomplishment.

They want an easy and relaxed themepark experience that makes them feel badass, rather than succeeding in an environment where you can only earn that sense of accomplishment through sweat and blood.

It's EVE vs WoW, Dark Souls vs Skyrim, we see the same theme all over the place.

I generally agree, but a lot of Titanfall 2's weapons are bullshit hitscan. I remember getting infuriated by the Hemlock on certain maps.

It's not dead you can find a match pretty quickly. The game itself is awesome. It's not perfect as I would wish for some things to tweak and change here and there but the premise and idea is off the wall pure fun.

I love the weapons designs and sounds. The effects of the proyectiles are made with attention to detail and thinking about big ass punchy weapons like the L-STAR.

And even the main mode, Attrition does have a meta game and strategies to win IF you're going for a serious win. Thing is since there's no ranked everyone plays like a pub match and the win or lose doesn't matter after awhile. It has the potential to become something really good but it needs refining.
