FF2 < DQ2
FF3 < DQ3
FF4 = DQ4
FF5 < DQ5
FF6 > DQ6
FF7 > DQ7
FF8 < DQ8
FF9 > DQ9

The only one I can really disagree with is DQ1>FF1, but that's only because I've only played about half of the DQ games. Also, is DQ7 really that good, or is the popularity of FF7 being used as a penalty for its score?

FFVII and DQVII have a lot of similarities in story and structure. DQVII is the most story focused of the DQ games, to the point that it has some of the same flaws FFVII has. That is, characters being removed from the party or being stuck in certain areas, all because the story dictates it.

Aside from that, it's opinion which you prefer. DQVII has a class system while FFVII doesn't. But while the class system in DQVII is not my favorite, I didn't like the materia system in FFVII much either.

woah, Dragon Quest 9 is not better than ff9. FF9 is one of my favorite ffs but Dragon Quest 9 is the only dragon quest I couldn't finish. The rest is fine though

Except they're not all the same. Dragon Quest V and VI are like night and day, just like Final Fantasy V and VI are. Dragon Quest V focuses on monster collecting. Dragon Quest VI focuses on a class system. Both games have vastly different worlds and stories. Similar examples can be made over the rest of the series.

The fact that you say this makes me think you've only played a couple games in the series and are generalizing the whole series.

I watched lets plays of three different DQ games and all of them had slimes. Same shit.
