Dunno, but it feels great. Makes me want to fast. Why wasn't Tails playable in this game? It seemed like the right time to start doing that.

Speaking about the Sonic Colors opening, it's good because it's a well produced synthpop-rock song, I believe the composer for this was Jun Inoue, the usual guy who took charge of Sonic's music since Adventure (and who had already worked a bit on S3&K), the english vocals are silly and the use of autotune is a bit excessive for my taste, but, it's not all that bad, it works in a kinda cheesy cartoon intro way.
The synth melodies that drive the song are pretty catchy and add a lot of layers of sounds to it, while not being excessively overdone or overproduced.
Basically, this is how you make good pop music. Minus the autotune.
As for Spring Yard (my favorite track in the entire Sonic series, and favorite zone as well), it's a no brainer, Masato Nakamura created how Sonic music should sound.
Green Hill Zone (the top 1 most recognizable piece of Sonic music), Marble Zone (to this day I'm still trying to figure out in what kind of genre would Marble Zone fall into, to me it always sounded like some 80s italodisco track, it definitely has an italian vibe anyway, maybe it's the accordion synth.
Spring Yard, what can I say? It's one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. It's just perfect.
Labyrinth Zone, this one is severely underrated, probably because many people associate this music with traumatic underwater moments, but the theme is one of the most eclectic, if not the most, in the Sonic series, it still has the trademark J-pop/funk sound provided by Nakamura, but it just has the most exotic sound and cadence that I've heard in Sonic series. Like Marble, I fail to actually be able to place it under a set genre.
Starlight is often cited as the most nostalgic song for many people, and for good reason. It has that warm sound of early 90s, it's literally just a J-pop song, but it's just so good, it's good pop.
Finally Scrap Brain, maybe the darkest Sonic track? Same goes for the boss and final boss themes in Sonic 1.
Special stage music is a trippy waltz, I like.

Sonic 1 is the only game that has a perfect soundtrack. Its "worst" track is still a solid 10/10.
