That's something a lot of people do. Elezen, highlander and f.roegadyn players are even more vocal with the "fuck popular races why is everyone playing them!" logic.

As for me, it only influenced my initial decision to pick a race at the list. After customization I ended up liking my character and since I went against almost every snowflake convention for the race it's safe to say it's based on my own preferences enough. I like my character and a couple of NPCs, but not really the rest of the race.

I'm so not feeling it anymore. I was pretty disappointed by Dragonsong but this one is just frustrating. It never picks up, at all and the lyrics aren't powerful at all.

Answers had a structure, it perfectly set up the suffering of people who feel abandoned by their gods. At the start it's a chorus of men lamenting, during Hydaelins Part a gentle harp melody and then went all out on the part about betrayal and misery.

What does Revolutions do? It never feels like an anthem for overthrowing tyranny. It should go from heavy and oppressive to epic and inspiring yet it kind of just meanders for 5 minutes.

There is hardly denying that the price you pay to enter Balmung, is well worth it for the opportunity of entertainment at every corner with both content and RP being the utmost level. If you aren't willing to pay a bit extra for the level of establishment and numbers that Balmung offers, then you need to question how dedicated to your enjoyment of your chosen avenues of entertainment you are, and while you can want and hope for a similar level of it elsewhere, I don't think you should complain when an easy avenue is placed in front of you.

If you can't afford a transfer of $18, I would question whether you can afford the sub in the first place if it is that much a strain on your budget. If you're cheap and have the money but aren't willing to spend it, ignoring you dedication to your own enjoyment, if you want to complain that is fine, but don't point fingers at others.

So, I've been fairly quiet about things as I've been giving a chance for the other Roleplay servers to come in and speak about themselves. I am in support of where-ever the cards may fall, as I know people will do, in the end, what they will do.

To explain a bit about myself, is that I am someone from the ye ol' days of Besaid. I was there during closed beta, open beta, and I watched the very formation of these forums. I actually remember when this place was called the RPC and not Hydaelyn; Or I think it now it is called H-RP.

I watched as we were merged with another server and we managed to keep our small, but lively roleplay community together. We didn't have Discord back then or many means we do now to keep the community connected, but we found the ways here in this forums to remain a strong community.

I also remember when the servers were closed down and when 2.0 started, but it was around here that I stepped away from Balmung, because my life took a very different path and I did, sadly, yes, burn some bridges because of it. I always lived in the shadow of that regret. Of the fact that my life, while out of my control, did burn bridges and tarnished my name a bit.

Knowing that when I returned and with little to no connection. The harder it was becoming for people to join Balmung and watching the posts here, I decided to create the RPC, name sake to these forums long ago, on Mateus.
Why Mateus?

Because Mateus was a very low pop server, a very friendly base community of the already mix culture that was there. The non-roleplayers were supportive and curious. The roleplayers were open and warm. It reminded me greatly of Besaid so long ago; My home.

I knew there that this place had the potential to be a flood over for Balmung, it had a chance to become something special and wonderful, and so I spent nearly 6 months of my time working with the community to build it up. To make amends for what I had done and to help support something that could flourish for the servers lifetime.

Low population means great place to build from. Its open. Its untouched. It can be shaped. It is a chance to start over and make anew. To learn from past mistakes and fix those mistakes to make something greater.

To come to Mateus, to support Mateus, is to build on a foundation of the great frontier as some many forefathers did before us. It has housing available, a market that can grow, and a community that can continue to strive forward.

I believe in what we are doing here and while yes, we do have our growing pains, and little subcommunities are being created as I type this. This is alright, it only shows the continued growth, the continued success of this building on this frontier.

I genuinely don't understand why so many of you have such a bizarre stake in protesting Mateus, while still managing to be so completely misguided in everything they say. I don't want to do a whole big thing because I could systematically take apart everything they've said and I just don't want to waste my time, so here are some key points.

1. Other MMOs have multiple RP servers and they thrive. As long as the communities make an effort to let people know they are RP servers when the MMO itself doesn't label them, they thrive and grow together.

2. Telling new players who want to join and RP now that they should wait for an arbitrary time (will get into this in the next point) so they can join what you consider the one true RP server, essentially meaning they shouldn't play at all in the meantime, is beyond ignorant and ridiculous to sya while you sit comfortably on the server in question already.

RPers and MMO players in general are fickle and unlikely to wait around before they give up and go back to their old game or something else. I had a group of people I know eager to get on Balmung and they almost cancelled playing the game entirely until I convinced them to go to Mateus. It's worked out great despite people like you trying to sabotage the efforts.

3. They closed Balmung temporarily with Heavensward and reopened it, yes. Difference being this time they explicitly said the server was going to be closed until the populations evened out. Balmung has over 2x as many people as any other server, it is going to take a long time for the populations to even out. Unless you have explicit proof of when the restriction will be lifted you have zero right to tell people they're damaging the RP community by not waiting around in limbo.
