F-Zero is dead because Nintendo scraps what they deem as "redundant." It's why Paper Mario isn't an RPG anymore, because they're under the delusion that the Mario RPG series fills the void completely.

I mean that's how it works, mainline Mario's plot is blatantly throwaway. Even when Galaxy tried to have a plot it got thrown out in the sequel.

Everything else is stupid because it's one fucking trailer, the first Mario trailer is always barebones in terms of content.

Any current Sonic fan knows that Izuka is obsessed with trying to turn Sonic into Mario, so Odyssey's return to a fully 3D adventure could potentially mean great things for the hedgehog.

Nintendo seems to like "course-clear" and "sandbox," though sandbox has evolved somewhat since SM64. Makes sense to me, though. You have a somewhat straightforward, old school-like level to beat in the former, while in the latter you have these much larger, more open levels you go through in a variety of ways depending on the goal.
