Monster Hunter
At the endgame, the monsters you hunt are either too dangerous to the ecosystem to be kept alive (apex monsters, deviants, hyper monsters), or creatures that have been regarded as gods at some point in history.
Some even have the power to end the world.

dude those gods get beaten by a fuckin hobo with a random weapon. Many trashmobs would fuck them up.
Maybe they once were powerful but you are basically beating up lazy fuckers that got weak over time. Sometimes its cool to kick a cripple but you always feel bad afterwards.
