Thanks to Bethesda, there are more Fallout "fans" who would rather have Call of Duty in the wastes than real fans who want a true role playing game. Fuck you Bethesda.
>>

get over it
>>
>>378926654
>people would rather play games they prefer over game that (you) prefer
STOP THE FUCKING PRESSES
>>
>Bethesda
>role playing game
>>
Thank God Bethesda saved Fallout from oblivion.
>>
Calm down, NMA. The next Fallout will get the content patch you entitled pussies crave.
>>
You have two choices, you can ignore them like the series ended at 2 which is what would have happened if Bethesda never had bought the IP.

Or you can learn to enjoy them, they really aren't that bad, not even 4 which is admittedly the worst.
>>
Yes, I like the Fallouts that came after 3 more then the ones before it entirely because I don't care for isometric RPGs.

I did go back and play Fallout 1, but I never actually finished Fallout 2.
>>
I think Bethesda doesn't really like post-apocalypse stuff beyond The Walking Dead, and just want to write a blockbuster movie and figured Fallout is the best way to do that.
>>
>>378927254
Same, I actually replayed fallout 1, but never got very far in the second one. It was somehow more boring despite being the same base game.

I guess it has something to do with 1 being much more focused and railroaded so to speak.
>>
>>378926654
most of the original fans are grown up now and couldnt give less shit about fallout 4
>>
What happened to role playing games in general?

People PRAISE THE EVERLIVING FUCK out of games with choices but hate RPGs with actual choices.
>>
>>378926654
Whatever nerd, you aren't worth the effort to appeal to. America doesn't have gooklands massive population of shut ins
>>
>>378927734
when i was a kid/teenager i loved spending hours wandering around in open world games with little progress. i simply lack the time and more importantly, the patience now to do that. i think there are a lot of people in a similar boat, they just arent part of the discussion
>>
>>378926654
>real fans

anyone old enough to have played fallout 1 and 2 dont play vidya anymore. 2 came out almost 20 years ago
>>
>>378926846
>Series starts as a rpg
>Is now call of duty
gee why would someone be mad

/thread
>>
>>378927734
I find that this is true >>378927983 might sound casual as fuck but when a game is 100 hours long and I have to replay it two times to see everything in it my desire to play said games drops exponentially.
>>
>>378928030
I'm 22 and completed Fallout 1 and 2 for the first time last year
>>
>>378928218
He clearly meant the real fans of the series who followed them when they released.
>>
>>378928136
Don't blame you at all, but there are plenty of games that are designed to be shorter, single-play experiences. Fallout isn't supposed to be one of them, though. If they'd have billed it as a shooter set in the Fallout universe (by that standard, it's a pretty decent game) that'd be one thing, but it was supposed to be the next big RPG installment to the Fallout franchise and what we got was a half-baked mess that tried to have and eat every cake possible
>>
>>378928389
The fact is Bethesda wants mass appeal, I spend most of my free time playing videogames and I still find huge games with too many choices a bit overwhelming. Imagine someone who has never played a game for more than 50 hours and that's pushing it. This is the market they want.

They do seem to have learned a couple of lessons with Fallout 4 and it's very likely that they will recalibrate and find a balance between casualization and hardcore appeal, like Oblivion or even Skyrim had.

Despite this, be aware that Fallout will from now on be the franchise that Bethesda will push harder to the more casual audience
>>
>>378928389
i think game development is a lot more complicated than we see it from the outside. like fallout 3 was the first 3d fallout, the majority of resource probably went for making the engine and creating a world. then obsidian already got a working game and had two years just to create a story.

i think its similar with 4. even if its an old engine, its a huge improvement in many aspects compared to 3. they probably spent most of the time working on the engine and the tools. after its done, they can release games in the future by just improving it and focusing on the story and the world.
games just cost way too much now compared to back then. there is always a main focus on something
>>
>>378926654
I know I would. You're just salty the gunplay is better
>>
>>378928803
I know that's the most realistic prediction, I'd just vainly hoped that studios and publishers had learned their lesson from last generation's formulaic "everyone appeal to the same mass-market" shit.
>>
>Role Playing
The first game only had one build.
>>
>>378928803
Oblivion and Skyrim sucked fucking ass, now fuck off retard.
>>
>>378929426
How does it feel to be this contrarian?
>>
New Vegas is the swan song of the series, we're getting 5 guns and mass effect dialog from here on out
>>
This thread amuses me more than it should.
>>
Also it is possible to like the old and new Fallouts, even if for different reasons. Shocking, I know.
>>
>>378929339
>not playing maximum luck/Jinxed build
>>
If you really want a Post-Apoc RPG just go buy Wasteland 2. Fallout was just a wannabe Wasteland from the beginning anyway.
>>
>>378931082
It was a spiritual successor you idiot.
>>
>>378931082
Wasteland 2 is the most mediocre piece of shit to have ever be set upon the steam market. What a fucking load of shit.
>>
>>378926654
Not true. Fallout needed tighter controls, but people have openly expressed how the rpg elements and new dialogue system were shit, and I think they know this. The next elder scrolls game will show they know what they're doing, I hope, and when the next fallout cones around you'll get your rpg and it'll have good gameplay and graphics to boot
>>
>>378928990

>4 was focusing on the engine
>it looks and feels like a game from ten years ago
>>
>>378928367
yes because nobody is allowed to play old games unless they did it when they came out, right
