Hmm, I guess it's just up to personal preference. Rev 2 has a comprehensive tutorial, mission mode to help reinforce what the tutorial taught, and combos to give you an idea of what a character's moves are like and general combo theory. Tekken lacks any of that and skimped out on single player stuff if that's important to you. But there's likely going to be more newcomers to Tekken, so competition may not be so ridiculous.

If all else fails, pick based on waifus.

I'm liking Rev 2 a lot for what it's worth. My only other fighting games were P4 arena and ultimax though so my opinion may not be worth much. (I also played melee for a while if that count, which people here will say no to)
