I do play BOTW with it. Mario Kart 8 too. There's a homebrew app that lets you use the gamecube adapter (and any other USB controller) on any Wii U game. It replaces a pro controller input.

It has built-in support for the GC adapter, dualshock 4, and a few others I can't remember. You can add support for others through .ini files. There's a link on that page to a collection of .ini files for commonly used controllers.

It was a good controller but it needed bigger and better d-pad and c-stick. Also, it was designed for smaller hands. Also needs a select button.

dpad is still the same size, its not buried in the faceplate though at least. only real gripe.

rest is good, typical R+L double bumpers and clickable analogs

build quality isnt as good as the original, but for the couple of games its good for, its enough. i played 200 hours of botw on it.

To me they're one of the most comfortable and practical ways of putting your fingers on a controller ever. I fucking loved them. The c-stick and d-pad were the only downfalls of the Gamecube controller.

Too bad the Switch Pro Controller trounces the GCN Controller in nearly every way possible.

It was a great controller. I don't deny that. However, controller design has moved well past it since. The only reason the GCN controller needs to stick around is literally just for Smash. There is just something about the button layout on the GCN controller that just works so much better for Smash than anything else. Classic controller isn't bad, but it's not as good.
