it took me years to finish it 100%

when I was a kid all I did was get to bowser, kill him and think it was all over

then over the course of months of intense replaying the game I started getting the alternate exits which never led to anything

at some point I learned flying and man that really made my progress take off, I found the star world for the first time

after months I found the special world and managed to 100% it

then I kept 100%ing it on my 3 files, appreciating the shiny look of the letters, then deleting all progress and doing it again and again

I started speedrunning any% it, the world record is like 10 minutes with TAS, I could do 12 minutes without TAS on GBA

I don't know what this game had but it was special, Nintendo only got somehow close to this later with Super Mario Galaxy and that's it

There is no capes in world 1. The secret area in stage 2 (the cave level) can be accessed without the cape. The ghost house is the third stage since you first got the cave, and this faggot thinks you would "reflexively" check for secret areas.

There is no precedent, the mechanic makes no sense. You have to stand on it and the press up or down to make it move. What most people would do (me at the time for example) is think that you had to jump on it to make it move. Not so much.

It is not obvious and not a single time down button was used to lower a platform prior to Carnival Zone. Plus it bounces when you jump on it, so you think you have to jump in tact in order to lower the thing, hell, we even managed to pass it just with jumps but only on one of the paths.
