Why develop games for handheld consoles when mobile devices exist and are capable of rivaling them?

Sure you sacrifice some controls, but you get a much larger potential audience.

I can't remember the last time I played a mobile game that is as fun as handheld games. Devs actually make a effort to make handheld games good. Mobile games on the other hand are fast cash grab crap with micro transactions... mostly pay2win crap.

Card Crawl
It let you get upgrades to a point, and then if you want to continue to further games, you just buy the full version. which isnt that expensive.

The mobile market is so much bigger.
Second largest vs the smallest marketshare, mobile stuff probably require less work and have worse quality control.

From a financial standpoint it should be fucking obvious. Very little incentive to work on handhelds, especially when they are competing in pretty much the same area.

a game where you play as a black gladiator woman that have to survive to an amount of level of puzzle and combat.
Its free, but the "expert level" is behind buying the full game, and it plays ads from time to time so you buy the real game and get them out.

This one is really hard, so Im to dumb to even finish one complete level

Try playing some fighting game on touchscreens, or shooters, SHMUPs, any fast action game and tons of other genres that require actual controls.
Turns out controls are much more important than you think.

I play a lot of board game ports on mobile. I know that the games are great, and because they're all turn-based (or at least, there's no necessity of good reaction times) the controls don't figure into the enjoyment of the game.

I tried different games in the past on phones. Controls with just the touch screena nd using only fingers is garbage. GARBAGE.

Not to mention that shitty phone games dont even have 1/10 of depth of mobile console games, even the worst ones.

Seriously, everything is about p2w, filled with ads, dumb :clicker" with very limited options and all about repeting same steps over and over again.

Im glad that some handheld consoles still exist, since phone games ARE SHIT AND I WISH IT WOULD GET REMOVED AT ALL.

there's none. The only control factors there are, are if your stuff has porn outwardly available in it. Other than that, anything goes. app store tries to stop malware too, but google play has no such attempts at keeping the games on it's market safe.
