as far as I know, AA blurs the edges of things to not make them pixelated anymore, I really don't like that idea at all

in old games like doom, turning on AA makes the textures blurry, but I know that's another story

the real fix for jagged edges is more resolution, not AA, if you increase resolution, the pixels become smaller and smaller until they're not visible anymore

that's why low poly old games looks super smooth in 1080p but modern games with more geometry look like shit, 4k is too soon, too demanding right now but in a few years, games that are jaggy right now will look great and run great
