Guandaos are actually very useful, unlike other pole weapons which were mostly designed for wall fighting and taking down mounted combatants.

The problem however is that many of them used wooden poles which wouldn't survive many defensive counters.

I unironically enjoyed Far Cry Primal because of spears.

Spears are generally a cheap weapon in games, you can hit things from a much bigger distance than most melee weapons

It's boring. It was the rank and file soldiers weapon, no one except a few vocal fags want to be rank and file soldiers.

Also it's boring as fuck, the only game where there are cool moves for it is Nioh. And it's super martial arts movie tier so it wouldn't work in a medieval RPG if they implemented those moves.
