>"Nah."
Just finished System Shock 2, can we have a thread about it? What a great fuckin' game.
Incredible sound work and pretty good writing, to boot.
>that pumping DnB soundtrack in the early levels
>that spoopy ambient noise in the later levels
>that amazing glitchiness on SHODAN and the cyborg voices
>those final audio logsin the Many as the scientist is sitting inside, awaiting his fate and observing the horrors around him, simultaneously terrified and fascinated
>that enemy dialogueI'll tear out your spine.

I disagree
FUCK SPIDERS
Not really much to say. It's a good game in all ways. Prey tried to mimic System Shock 2's gameplay but it just doesn't hit that sweet spot for me.
Also the music is great.

What makes it better? I understand it has less of a focus on RPG mechanics and more general combat.

Annoying as shit. Felt bad having no toxic hypos and getting bit by one of 'em.

If there's anything to be said about Looking Glass it's that they have great sound design. They also really thrive at making immersive games. I've never felt more immersed while playing Thief or System Shock. What makes these games so immerse? Is it caused by the individual or could it be due to the freedom the game allows in cooperation with other aspects?
I want to give SHODAN my semen samples through her forcefully using a onahole on me, for which she'll probably use to clone a army of abominations.

I just finished it for the first time and I don't agree with this. It was ahead of it's time in a lot of ways, but it's obtuse and clunky with confusing level design. SS2 does everything it did but leagues better. I am very much looking forward to the SS1 remake though. Hopefully they don't muck it up too bad.

Your opinion is invalid due to your points
I'm gonna play this. Should I follow a guide for stat distribution?
>>378818575
nah the game is generous enough that you should be fine.

HELLO? SIR? ARE YOU THERE?
>mfw I thought they were friendly for the first time because of their barks

>when the fuckin drum kick

Okay. I remember playing it a few years ago and being confused.

Ambient sound, enemy barks, writing, environment design, mechanics requiring a more methodical approach to gameplay forces the player to take their time and take in the world.

Nah. Anything's viable.
I finished SS2 a few weeks ago, and I agree that it still holds up fairly well.
However, I do think there is some uneven parts (like Engineering and the egg hunting later on) that drag on, and I personally felt it was a bit too easy by the end of the game.
However, I thought it still held up very well design-wise, audio wise (I like that the audio logs was not done by professional voice actors but by people on the dev team, it feels more genuine), and even visually it still creeped me out a lot.
Everything after the body of the many was shit.

THAT'S THE TRIOPTIMUM WAY!

I agree that Engineering gets pretty slow - it's when the difficulty ramps up the most in comparison to the resources the player is given. Felt the most like a survival horror game at that point. Lots of frustrating deaths.
The egg hunting was easy. I had no trouble finding them.

It was a better bossfight thanSHODAN herself, but I'd be hard-pressed to find a final boss area in any similar game that didn't feel a little rushed.
