>ORLANDO, Fla. - In a recently filed trademark for Universal’s upcoming Super Nintendo World, it appears that the classic Nintendo game "Mario Kart" and video game events may play a large role in the theme park.
>The trademark filing covers a large number of Nintendo-themed items, including clothing, games, live shows, rides and numerous others.

What video games would make for good real world attractions? I'd pay cash money dollars for a real life Hitman experience with real actors acting at the NPC's.

This, if you faggots have ever been to Universal literally ALL of their rides are the same.

It's just going to be a shitty simulator ride. You'll probably sit in some Kart and stare at a screen while your chair vibrates and shakes. Big fucking whoop.

>video game events

Yes, I sure love spending thousands of dollars traveling to Orlando and spending hundreds on a ticket to Universal only to play video games that I can experience at home. What the fuck are they thinking?
>>

>tfw hollywood is a drive away
I like the Mummy and Jurassic Park rides.

And the Harry Potter one.
>>

You literally just listed the only three worthwhile rides in the entire park honestly
>>
>>378782913

The first harry potter ride is based as fuck. The new one is pretty lame.

And the Butter Beer is awesome, but you can't buy one and some alcohol - they make you drink the alcohol in front of them so I need to sneak a flask in or get a friend to buy shots. Butter Beer and vodka or rum is delicious.

In Orlando they replaced the Jimmy Neutron ride with it. At least we still have the Shrek "ride." I was so drunk one time that the vibrating seats in the galloping section made me fall off onto the floor and security kicked me out.

Nigga, in Orlando we have fucking FOUR STORY GO-KART TRACKS.

>>
Didn't they have a silent hill haunted house at one point?
>>
>>378781993
Disney has no room left to expand
>>
>>378785185

Universal haunted houses were scary for the first 5 years when I was a kid. But now, it's literally a non-stop conga line where it's always the person ahead of you or behind you getting scared by an actor. Shit is lame. However, they added a VR experience which is legit scary.
>>
>>378784875
I'm sad that the old classic go karts at the front entrance of Old Town went away. I mean granted the race track is outdated and the 4 floor one is better, but it was still a classic.
>>
>>378785639

>olde town

Shit, I haven't been there in a decade. Did they get rid of that crazy hammer ride up front that slowly lifted you up and turned you upside down? They better have thorn down that shitty roller coaster they had.
>>
How would /v/ make a real life Mario Kart? Here's my idea:

>road has digital aspects and is connected to computers along with karts
>images of item boxes along the road, similar to SMK
>driving over boxes would give you item, item would appear on screen in Kart
>press a button on Kart and image of item is projected on road
>would cause karts that drive over it to actually spin out
>parts of road would be swapped out to create a different course
>>
>>378781597
This shouldn't even be news since it's one of the most obvious choices.

>>378781773
Many parks have kart areas and nothing ever happened so far, they're usually quite dumbed down to keep them safe for the larger crowd.
>>
>>378784875

So basically, it's like racing around in a parking garage drunk
>>
I just got back from UO last week. That shit is so cash. Some of the older stuff needs to go tho
>>
>>378785892
I'd Just make it normal go karts, to minimize on costs. It'll sell on name alone and any digital aspect would be too expensive to implement

>>
>>378786558

>>
>>378786741
dueling dragons is still there. its just renamed and since universal was sued they wont run both coasters at sametime.
>>
>>378781597
What I'm more interested is in the merchandizing the'll sell:

>"Clothing, namely, coats, dresses, Halloween costumes, hoodies, jackets, pullovers, t-shirts, shirts, shorts, sleepwear, sweatshirts, tops, loungewear, underwear, infant wear, wrist bands, warm-up suits, vests; gloves as clothing; socks and stockings; neckties; headwear; scarves; mufflers; waistbands; belts for clothing; footwear; clothes for sports namely, athletic pants, athletic shorts, athletic shirts, athletic tops, swimwear; masquerade costumes..."

Sounds crazy.
>>
>>378786741
I thought DD just got repainted as a Harry Potter ride.
>>
>>378787181
Wasn't even repainted or anything. They just changed the name of the ride. Everything else is still the same. Luckily universal didn't change that much of it. I only regert not buying a t or suv of the DD.
>>
>>378786741
>>378787006
>>378787181
This. Dueling Dragons was rebranded as the "Dragon Challenge", and they stopped running both coasters at the same time because someone got injured.
>>

This, but the item effects can only happen in straights so people won't be injured while being "hit" entering or in a curve.

Pokemon is owned by The Pokemon Company, that was founded by Nintendo, Game Freak, and Creatures. Every decision made about Pokemon goes through TPC, and sometime's it's bullshit, like how Smash Bros. alt colors can't change too much, so Pikachu HAS to be yellow, and in Super Mario Maker the Pokemon costumes weren't allowed the classic sound effects.

Hitman as fucking real life attraction? How fucking old are you?! Its whole bunch of paid actors that suppose to act natural and play stupid all the time. People are obviously more aware of their surroundings and suspicious people than Hitman NPCs.
So basically its Westworld level shit and not possible financially, its also pretty fucking stupid.
Only way you can get similar experience is playing something like The Ship. All you need is gather people in one place, put some supposed tools of murder and give everyone a name of their random victim. Everything else is simple roleplay. Im sure somewhere someone is into roleplay and does this kind of game too,

>>
>>378790512

No. There are two Universal Parks in Orlando. Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Orlando. They've always sold tickets separately or a 2-in-1 pass. Now the Harry Potter section is expanded so half of it is in Islands and half of it is in Studios, so if you wanted to see everything Harry Potter has to offer, you HAVE to get the 2-in-1 pass.
>>
>>378785383
Orlando has only developed 1/3 of its entire property
>>
>>378790929
Marvel street is still there but it's pretty shit. Most of the Studios park is pretty shit. The only reason to go to that side is to run The Mummy twenty times in a row because the single riders line is usually empty.

Busch Garden has awesome rides and short lines. It's just a bitch driving there. Food and shows suck, but they have 10 coasters/drop rides so you can just do a few circuits.

They can do whatever they want with Epcot and I would gladly be on board, it's so outdated now. The problem with that park is the entire theme of it is irrelevant now. It was about envisioning the future of the world, but it's decades old now that it's so dated.

Also Japan is always so goddamn busy, it's literally become the most popular place. It sucks because I can remember when that wasn't the case. They're also doing some kind of remodeling and cut out a section of the store and put up this really cheap, shitty looking wall.

Childhood is not liking Epcot because it has the fewest rides and World Showcase is boring. Adulthood is realizing waiting in line for a 60s ride is a waste and the restaurants in world showcase are amazing.

I just wish Disney would go back to making original concepts for their rides and stop shoving their IPs in every park.

Space Mountain, Haunted Mansion, Splash Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean... they were all original shit they came up with and they're beloved classics.

Now it's Frozen/Avatar/Marvel/Star Wars all over.

Only parts of disney world have a lower level for staff only, those parts are NOT underground, they're at ground level, everything else is technically on the floor above it. Those tunnels were not built for the park that it became, they are too small for the number of people working there now and the fast food is there so that staff members can eat because even disney has to let it's employees eat.

It wasn't scary, there was a few minutes of COMPLETE darkness and the shoulder harness moved which scared kids because they're being touched in complete darkness.

This is the problem I have with them redesigning Tower of Terror/Maelstrom/Alien. The original rides were all solely designed around the theme. When they retheme the ride it just doesn't work.

The Frozen ride is so out of place and not cohesive at all, it just looks like they slapped all of the movies songs together. It has no story.

Guardians of the Galaxy still looks like a hotel building, not a galactic fortress. The ride still looks like a service elevator, not some futuristic shit.

So, it's really hard to fix, but we are working on it. And we continue to work on it. >Hmm lets build diagon alley, an area meant to for just a couple hundred wizards at any given time, to scale for these literally thousands of people who will be walking through it constantly
>what could possibly go wrong
As cool as it is seeing it just like the movies, it was a retarded idea
The original wizarding world in islands is designed way better since only the castle is semi to scale.

Have you been to the world showcase lately? They turned every country into a giant giftshop. The nordic viking country is now just a theater for a Frozen short film and a store for Frozen merchandise.
>>
>>378804305

I love GotG. But it deserves it's own full-fledged ride. Not a lazy reskin of what is suppose to be a spooky ride based off The Twilight Zone.

The interior of the ride looks great, the exterior is so fucking hideous.

Universal will sell them if Nintendo world does well, which it likely will.
Right now the only things that garner attention in the marvel areas are Spiderman and Hulk. They're no longer allowed to make major changes either, so they're stuck with what they've got. That's what the whole Nintendo expansion is hopeful of, another popularity boom which lets them sell the contract to Disney to fund the expansion of Nintendo stuff.
>Universal studios will basically become Harry Potter and Nintendo with a tiny bit of side stuff mixed in in the next 15 years
>>
>>378805447
Animated animatronics are a mistake.
They only work well for haunted Mansion because it looks fucking creepy.

ATTRACTIONS:
Magic Kingdom > Animal Kingdom > Hollywood Studios > Epcot

NIGHT TIME SHOWS:
Epcot > Magic Kingdom > Hollywood Studios > Haven't seen AK

OVERALL THEMING:
Animal Kingdom > Magic Kingdom > Epcot > Hollywood Studios
>>
>>378805169
That's Norway's fault for not paying their Disney tax
>>
>>378791104
I don't understand why they are two different parks.
>>
>>378805639
AK is the worst at theming though. It's basically just zoo / dinosaurs and now avatar, though it has been improving.
Honestly I would not be surprised if Disney just said fuck it and grabs Kemono friends for AK to salvage the low density "overpriced zoo" areas.

>yfw they make REAL Mariokart

>Everyone's driving around a neato track covered in LCD squares protected by glass or some kind of sheeting

>Little carts with full body housing you get inside, with an advanced windscreen featuring sharp's LCD tech with transparent any shaped screens

>There are electronic tiles on the floor you drive over and give you a weapon instead of blocks

>Using a weapon like a banana leaves a yellow square with a banana icon on the track, anyone who drives into it slides out of control

>Ink power causes everyones windshields to go black using the LCD tech and they can't see

>Using a red shell shoots a redshell along the floor LCD's and homes in on the nearest cart

>Green shell bounces around the track along the floor squares with a green trail etc

>Using the bullet bill makes your cart actually fucking turn on a turbo charger in the engine

>Large electromagnets not unlike the japanese trains underneat the carts, you can drive up walls and magnetically stick to them by attaching yourself to a kind of mag rail thing

It could be done, it would be expensive as fuck, but it would be GOAT.

It saddens me that the 20,000 Leagues ride got dismantled because it sounded really cool and I will never get to see it.

At the same time though, I understand why they got rid of it. It was somewhat quaint in comparison to other attractions, and that means fewer people going on it, and it was one of the most high-maintenence attractions in the entire park due to all the water and underwater machinery. That whole thing had to be drained, cleaned, repaired, and refilled every year. I wish I could have gone on it at least once though.
>>
>>378805803
It's so weird to me that China got a spot in the world showcase but Russia didn't. I mean, the plans fell through AFTER the fall of the Soviet Union which is so weird. If anything I feel like that would be when it would be least controversial to have it.
We should just get rid of Morocco or Italy. It's not like they bring in much money compared to all the other world showcase areas

Ever wondered why water at Disney and such had a unique smell? Bromine instead of chlorine to clean the water, thought that was pretty neat.
>>
>>378806640
Every hot tub in america uses bromine for like 20 years now
>>
>>378806640
tastes like shit though, specially on splash when a gallon of it is shoved in your screaming face, uninvited
>>
>>378805457
They literally just did a major change with the hulk
>>
>>378806153
They could add an AR screen to the karts + rear view mirrors which let you see shells and other items. Have all the karts on rails for safety (because with items it would actually get dangerous), and if you get hit by a shell your kart would slow down and spin around a few times before you could go again.
>>
>>378806780

Haven't really owned or used a hot tub in a long time so I guess I never noticed.

>>378806787

Kind of the same for high chlorinated water as well
>>

>>
>>378781976
Uni is at their best when they integrate practical effects and screens, Forbidden Journey is one of the best rides I've ever been on.

Hopefully Mario Kart is like that, with practical sets and AR items to use on other people
>>
>>378806640
It's because of long days in the heat, and using it for hot water as well as outdoor temp water. It's better to just buy a shit ton of bromine.
>>
>>378781597
Metroid prime rail shooter ride. Ridley or Super metroid final boss
>>
Mario kart ride will be an on rails coaster that whips you around with mario themed screens periodically throughout the ride. Anyone who's been to universal studios in the last 15 years knows im right. Don't get your hopes too high kids.
>>
>>378807117
They've been doing it since haunted Mansion decades ago.
The problem is that the tech hasn't gotten any better since. It's why Miku concerts are full on hologram instead of animatronic. If there are any independent engineers here, know that the tech which allows for finely curved screens and images is something theme parks and many others will pay hundreds of millions for because no one can figure out a good way to do it yet.
>>
There will be a mario ride and a zelda ride with a pokemon themed restaurant and kongs frozen lemon ice stands all over.

yes.
my point is disney spent only 6 months on a ride for guardians of the galaxy, while spending a full 7 years on a land based on a forgettable movie.
>>
If this gives you any idea of time it takes to make these things, they have been working on a single fast and furious ride for 2 years, and half of it was already built.

Itll be 5 years or more. They haven't even started tearing out the old stuff yet.
>>
>>378810746
Oh, that makes sense. Didn't Avatar Land start before they got Marvel though?

And as some other anon said, Disneyland literally lacks the space to shit out new Lands everywhere. Some people think Hollywoodland that surrounds the former Tower will turn into Marvel though.

I think 3D screens is going to be the way to go for them for the long haul. The world is getting fatter, and 3D screens means more leeway / less having to dabble into motion physics and fitting ride for both big and small bodies that won't fall out of a rough ride.
