I don't, but you can't evolve the series past Super Metroid, Metroid II was an evolution of Metroid, Super Metroid was an evolution of both Nintendo couldn't figure out a way to push the Super direction forward because it was originally supposed to be the last game in the series. The main reason Fusion changed directions was because there was no way to take Super Metroid forward, Zero Mission is a primary example of this, a remake of the original Metroid, tries to be like Super Metroid, is worse in almost every way. Players today can barely even play a game like Super Metroid, Fusion is the only way to go, Other M was a step too far and payed for it for all the right reasons.

Exactly, Zero Mission already fixed the wall jumping, and ball jumping issues of Fusion so a sequel to Fusion that is more opened can work. We will never get a 2D Metroid as good as the first three I accepted that. Fans should be happy with what they got instead of constantly asking for perfection.
