Will gamer bars and other gamer culture themed locations be a thing, /v/?

Kind of like the cybercafes of the past. Drink some Desininis and play a bit of Overwatch with your mates.

I live next to a gamer bar - It's like a genuine pub, but with PC's, arcade cabinets, and all consoles since the Atari (save for the Dreamcast) available for free as long as you bought at least a drink or snack.
The average customer age is around 25-30, and only once have I seen a "DUDE I'M DRUNK LMAO" over the course of 2 years.

It's pretty delicious, but just like baileys and pina colada you'll get sick of it pretty fast if you drink too much of it.
It's something you just sip for the taste and buzz.
If you don't like beer, just stick to wine and cider. If you wanna get shitfaced mix OJ and vodka, or coke and rum if you're into vomiting your life away and ruining captain morgan for yourself.

Sure they do, if they don't really like drinking or they want to appear sophisticated.

It used to be very common for men to order cocktails as their usual drink, because beer and straight liquor were considered to be low-class and admittedly taste bad (this is when nobody had a choice as to what beer they got, it was all American, and all bad). However, the sorts of drinks that men ordered in days of yore are usually not the sorts of drinks ordered by men today.

The novelty cocktail, like in OP's picture, might be a cute idea but I for one would not be caught dead with one in my hand.

Literally the only thing that's somewhat themed for a video game is The Fallout Burger; everything else is just a burger with different condiments.

A solid video game bar should have fancy drinks named after games, and one or two menu items like the Fallout Burger, but overall is just a bar with a bunch of Raspberry Pis with Super Nintendo games and a bunch of MAME cabinets set on Free Play.

every upper mid yuppie and hipster thinks they can open a restaurant or some kind of bar and just have it passively generate income for them. it never works out.

Fuck, I might actually have this then. I absolutely can't stand most of the shit in that list. I actually remember one time I had carbonated water and almost gagged at the taste and my friend acted like I was weird. Coffee is also really fucking gross to me no matter how high quality or how much sugar is in it.

Congratulations you have a superpower, the power of tasting too much ,now that's a really useless power

Me too, senpai. I remember trying tonic water once with my friends, and I nearly gagged with just a drop. I can't handle any kind of coffee, and the one time I tried horseradish, I actually barfed it up.

It's not easy being superior to plebs who enjoy shit like coffee, green tea, cilantro, and alcohol.

It's called being a non-taster. Non-tasters prefer bitter and sour foods. Normal tasters can enjoy both, but not to the extent that non/super-tasters can, while also not despising flavors like they do. Super-tasters enjoy spicy food but can't stand bitter or sour food.

It's also partially due to genetics. Africans and Americans (Natives) have a higher prevalence of super-tasters, whereas Europeans and Asians have a higher prevalence of non-tasters.

Our heroes have been captured by the evil Poop Mouth, and are about to be electrocuted in a large chamber.

"Hahahah. I got you now, Superdorks! Let's see you get out of this one! Those vials in the middle contain either a powerful catalyst for the electrocution process, or grapefruit juice. Can you tell which is which? Also, those dick-sized holes in the walls contain the emitters which will seal your doom. Unless you can somehow manage to short them all in rapid succession. Ahahahaha!"

"Oh no ST, how are we going to get out of this situation?"
"I don't know Glues. We'll think of something. We always do!"

Blue = Super-taster
Red = Non-taster
Gray = Normal-taster

Europeans have a higher number of super-tasters than any other group, but also have a larger number of non-tasters, by a wide margin.

So, from what I've learned from this thread, people who enjoy the taste of alcohol and coffee are literally inferior to people who despise the taste.

They're not THAT popular, but because they're extremely limited in time (<2 months usually) and only available at couple locations at best nationwide, then they're always completely booked.

When you have tens of millions people in a city like Tokyo, finding several thousands fans to have your 50 seats restaurant full every day for 2 months straight isn't really hard.

If they were chains available 24/7 and everywhere, they would just become empty. The food quality is usually terrible, price isn't good either.
>>
>>378778884
People underestimate the sheer size of Tokyo. There are 35 million people living in Tokyo, 33 million in California, 32 million in Canada, and 31 million in Australia, just for perspective. For even more perspective, if every single person in Tokyo moved to New Zealand, New Zealand's population would increase by 9x.
>>
>>378779109
Cali's up to 40 mil now, and half of them live in the LA metro. Christ, I fucking hate LA.
>>
>>378779402
Wew, I'm out of touch. Tokyo somehow managed to get up to 38 million while I wasn't looking, too. Still, if Tokyo were its own country, it would be the 37th most populous country in the world, right behind Poland, and ahead of Iraq, Canada, and Venezuela.
>>
>>378779109
And that's exactly why anything happening there at a single location will always be packed could it be a themed restaurant, a launch event, a handshake event and so forth.

It's not even about Tokyo being 35 million, it's about the very high density and good transportation system, so those tens of millions people are all potential target for these restaurants and what not. That's why every single thing there is always full / packed and looks extremely popular.

It's already a problem that bars have more dudes wanting to get laid than single females. A gamer bar would probably be 100% dudes + a few girlfriends.

I'm 30 and I've seen three "barcades" pop up nearby, been to a half dozen but only in the past 4 years. A few local bars got into the scene and started converting basements or back rooms into arcades as well, and started selling themed drinks too.

This is a thing now. We all have to live with this.
