Is the Momodora series any good? I've been looking

just play it. Decide for yourself. The games are freeware, so no monetary loss.

4th is the best.

It's a solid series. The funny thing about it is that every other game is completely linear. Also the first two are free and the third one is dirt cheap.

Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight is pretty good. I would recommend it to anyone who's a fan of the Metroidvania genre

The first one is like a completely linear and inferior version of Cave Story. It's not bad but it's not amazing either. Also it gets really hard towards the end so if you like challenge, give it a try.
The second one is a decent game and it's my favourite game in the series.

Oh I should add that the second game is a direct sequel to the first one so if you care about what little plot there is you shouldn't skip the first game.

I played this one recently and it's pretty good but if you expect a Metroidvania you're going to be incredibly disappointed. There's only one area you need a movement power up for and really no back tracking unless you want to get all the achievements, it's a pretty straightforward game. And each level is really short too. Also the combat is really weak and the bosses don't have any kind of challenge unless you're trying to perfect them for their special items, most of which are far less effective than your basic attack.

I'm not saying you shouldn't play it, but temper your expectations.
