Makoto kind of ruined the group synergy for me and Futaba is easily the worst character of the entire series and yet she immediately takes the games focus once she's introduced, I didn't enjoy the game too much in the end either.

Honestly I was starting to go a bit crazy with the endless praise I was seeing everywhere. Age? Yeah, you do have to be the right age to enjoy these types of games, but I feel like I can still get intrigued by the mystique of tartarus and the dark hour, and connected to the small town shenanigans and adventures of a group of friends working together to discover a killer. With p5 i feel nothing...and it hurts after waiting this long.

P3, P4 and P5 are all practically the same game, so of course you were gonna get burnt sooner or later. It happened the same thing to me with Yakuza games... But seriously, P5 is the best one of the 3 in every single way.

Well P5 is very similar to P4 and P3, especially 4. You've obviously played those tons of times, so that may have burnt you out, even if it was some time ago. Plus, it could be current life conditions: lack of time or motivation, depression, etc. Some people I know were interested in the game but didn't care as much after finding out it's a >100 hour game.

Persona 3 had good pacing in the sense that you had free time, there was a mystery and you could grind if you wanted.
Persona 4 had not that good pacing but the mystery kept you going and the characters were at least somewhat interesting. Finally the game had tons of time to do everything.
Persona 5 choke chains your ass constantly with not being able to do things, short time limits on the boss dungeons because they sometimes just lock a day for you because either a tutorial or random shit, that and you have the end the mission long before you fight the final boss.
The story is a disaster and at no point are you getting to the heart of something you are just fixing people who are bad for reasons and the cast slowly trickle in and near the end you get key characters to late to even be interested in them.
P5 was not that good in my opinion and I just went back to trying to beat the other ones I missed and SMT: Nocturne.

I don't know about that, once i find something i like, i REALLY get autistic about it. For example, i still play banjo kazooie, melee, custom robo, halo 3, sonic CD all the time. Obviously RPGs have different expiration dates since they are so story focused and you can only go through the same stories so many times, but my point is that i never had a problem finishing and replaying p3 or 4 in rapid succession and rebuying their updated versions

I'll give you dungeons, gameplay and graphics, but that's about it. The story was largely unfocused and boring, the twists were obvious, the villians boring, and the cast itself was hit or miss. The confidants/social links should have been reworked more, as these were the worst of the series. While some individual stories were nice, all of the non-party member confidants progressed in exactly the same way. And despite how much the game railroads you, the fortune teller makes it trivial to max all the social links with a month to spare.

I unironically enjoyed FFXV more than P5.

I dunno.. I think I only liked P3/4 because I was younger. I don't think P5 was a bad game, but I didn't even finish it because I flat out did not care and it didn't challenge me. FFXV wasn't challenging either, but I gave a fuck about the story and characters for whatever reason.
