It's too bad I've officially given up on this game. It's really only fun with people and I just keep getting disconnected even though I've tried everything. It hurts, I have to at least wait for the Switch version. It's not even my internet.

I am quietly hoping every day the monster hunter gets announced for playstation. I can't take trying to make my hands fit a 3ds. It hurts too bad.

Played Hunting Horn the entirety of the game, and had a blast. I plan on going a full-offense Hunting Horn build for the rest of the game, with Weakness Exploit, Challenger, and Attack(S) and a Maestro necklace.

Is it that bad? The Horn I plan on using has some Earplugs that can upgrade into HG Earplugs, which I felt can really get some good hits in there with Weakness ontop of Challenger. Should I just exchange it for Critical Eye +3 or possibly Evade Extender/Evasion+?

The Horn (Tigrex Horn) has -15% Affinity. With CE+3 It can get to 15% Affinity natural, not counting Weakness Exploit head shots.

Like I said, I barely know how to itemize in this game. Really the first time I'm trying to get a planned out endgame set.

It doesn't make sense because they want to expand their audience, NOT reduce it. The 3DS has a huge amount of ownership, and plenty of people who own one won't own a Switch for a year or more to come, if at all. It absolutely makes sense for them to create Switch versions of their games, but to try and replace the 3DS sales with purely Switch sales would be an incredibly unwise move that would cut into a lot of potential profit. 3DS + Switch simultaneous releases with crossplay is the best thing they could have done.

Some Furious Rajang, Rusty Kushy and/or Miralis pieces should do it for the most part. Basically every general CB custom set got funneled into more or less the same setup. You need some really good charms to make it work though, because Guard was ridiculously hard to mix together with the regular offensive blademaster skills in 4U. Unlike Focus/Crit Draw which were easily accessible on a multitude of custom tailored sets.

Starting off with XX will let you use Brave and Alchemy styles, and I think the SP effect you can have on arts as well. There's a bunch of other balance changes as well like the Prowlers, but still, it's up to you if you want to get it all done before the game even releases in the west, provided it does get localized.

I'm not the best at these games, but I at least finish solo before jumping online, so I don't overestimate my abilities and think I'm hot shit.

Turn off Hunting Arts and use Guild Style, and this is actually one of the better Monster Hunter games. No bullshit, extraneous mechanics; a diverse cast of monsters from various generations; nice locales.

But the upgrade paths became a bit more convoluted in Gen in general. Lots of final weapons don't have a direct entry point on the upgrade tree.

Are you playing MH4U? There initially aren't a lot of separate CBs you can craft until Cheeko Sands, but it's still a powerful weapon and the initial one can fit in several upgrades easy.

MHGen on the other hand? It requires you to go through incremental upgrades more often and branch off into different paths a bit more often than just straight-up making new weapons. Still, Petrified Strongarm and Elite Blade are good picks for progression.

Simply put, you aren't going to see a lot of weapons with blue sharpness in low rank, especially those with Impact phials. Seregios and Tigrex CBs do have a sliver of blue, the latter stands out as a fantastic endgame CB for Gen at least.

The issue with AED snipes is that you're basically playing a super-gimped Great Sword with none of the advantages.

They tend to aggro the other one and one time it did, I went to fend it off myself and ended up with mission failed the next minute because they all got owned by Seregios.

Hammer and GS never used it to begin with, SA is dropping it depending on the matchup, LS dropped it, Lance can easily drop it, and it's optional on CB as well. Hell, Readiness on 3 HA styles makes dropping razor sharp less of an issue anyway.
LS generally wants sakura slash, critical juncture or rakshasa depending on the matchup.
And every weapon has at least one "core" weapon-unique HA that's extremely powerful. I don't know why people still say that most HAs are shit, only a few of them are, and others just aren't good for speedruns because they're meant for utility like breaking parts.

As for the nub, it's not as shitty as people act like it is. It's a prime size and in a prime position compared to the buttons. The main issue is that it has no grip, something for which there are myriad ways to overcome. Also it becomes far less stiff and more responsive with use.

The ones with functional changes I know of are Adept GS and Aerial CB, the former can now charge up post-dodge attacks and the latter can do regular AEDs with shield boost. There are some tweaks made for the rest, like the triple-hit Lance poke being raised slightly in damage and Striker Lance's charge finisher being lowered in damage a small amount, as well as Adept DB getting a damage nerf on the evade.

For me it's less my hands getting sweaty and more oil build up from extended usage. Stick a corner of tissue between the button and your thumb for a bit, wiggle it, and it'll be tighter than before.

Ultimately though it may be worth it to deface the top of the nub a little to give it a gripping texture, by either sanding it a little bit with a very very tiny piece of sandpaper as to not damage the rest of it, or mod it for a PSP slider head.

Wasn't shelling in Gen characterized by reaching 4U levels of strength or even going beyond once Dragon's Breath was used? If shelling power has been buffed, then I would expect that to be even moreso the case now given 20% was roughly the nerf it took between 4U and Gen.

No, I mean that while shelling is about 20% stronger than in Gen, weapon raw damage is almost twice as high. Most commonly used endgame weapons, unless they're extremely element focused, have 320-340 raw, and some of them go as high as 370 or 380. Even relics in 4U only maxed out at 340, or 360 in the case of GS and Hammer.

Adept LS upgrades the aura through the post-dodge attack, using X > R. In Guild/Striker you're supposed to upgrade it at the end of the spirit combo.

Yes, Adept dodge is broken. Sets the game to easy mode.
Also, the direction of the dodge itself and the run you do after it are independent. Just be sure to move the stick the monster's direction after the dodge, and you should be able to reach it in most cases.
