Counter Strike Source had a weird glitch for a long time where if you switched between joining a player team and spectators rapidly you would be like a weird spectator/player hybrid that could interact with the world in most ways a player could (besides shooting, that was like the one thing you couldn't do) but you could fly around freely and be completely invisible to other players and be able to pass through them (but they couldn't pass through you, in fact if you stopped inside of a player it would freeze them in place) like a spectator. You also weren't effected by rounds and sets like players are so you could go around collecting weapons from dead players and then when a team switch or something happened you could give one team a bunch of weapons they shouldn't be able to afford in round one and see the other team get annihilated. You could also do stuff like throw a weapon up in the air and catch it over and over again and they would just see a weapon flying around in the air or like steal the bomb when someone drops it and give it back to them in the next round so they would have two bombs and could plant at both sites. If you really wanted to be a dick you could switch spectator mode to player view and rapidly shift between all the players to make them think they have really bad lag because they're stopping dead in their tracks every few steps. Probably the most fun I ever had with a multiplayer game.

Back when I was a kid, I was playing Link's Awakening and decided to play over from the beginning for like the 15th time.

I was fighting Moldorm and got knocked off, and I held up and the jump button hoping in vain that I could get back on the platform. I kept holding the buttons in defeat as it loaded the side scrolling basement area, but oddly enough it turned out that in that version of the game, if you held up + Roc's Feather, it would cause you to jump a tiny bit as you loaded in.

For some reason, they programmed a loading zone in the ceiling for that basement, and crossing it utterly fucks the game, I'm guessing because of memory overflow of some sort, but it scrambles the attributes of all the game's tiles. Some notable examples:

>Vertical walls become grass and can be walked on freely
>Horizontal walls become water
>Pits become walls of some sort
>Every chest becomes a power bracelet, no matter what its actual contents were supposed to be

Enemy graphics become fucked, so you'll have shit like Mr. Wright's with spider legs moving around, and because all of the dungeons are loaded on one giant map, you can walk through the walls and go from dungeon 1 to dungeon 4. Zoning up or down stairs causes the game to fix itself, so you can use this to sequence break shit even worse than screen skipping does.

This was all back before the internet was really a major thing, so discovering this on my own felt like a major achievement.

In Pod, you could customize the attributes of your car. This would let you change things like acceleration, top speed, and handling.

By typing out the word 'rocket' on the customize screen, you could get an extra 100 attribute points to work with. As a kid, I would use this to max out everything and put 0 points into brakes (why would anyone ever put points into brakes?)

If you saved your customized car, reloaded the game, then tried to customize the car again, the game would tell you you had negative 100 points remaining. If you double-clicked on the brakes value, you would put all negative 100 of these points into brakes.

As you would expect, negative brakes made you faster, and there was no lower limit for the brakes value, so I would spend a few minutes pumping the brake value to negative 5000 and hitting the brakes to reach game-crashing speeds.

I bought this game on gog hoping to do this glitch again, but it seems like it was patched out in later versions.

Fell through the street in GTA Vice City and then spawned twenty feet in the air and took a little bit of damage when I landed.

In Banjo-Tooie, I accidentally got infinite fire eggs.
It happened when I was playing Clinker's Cavern. At the same time when I was supposed to lose a honeycomb of health because of the gas, I got hit by one of those ugly cunts with the wrenches. Eventually my health went down to one, but for some reason I had essentially become immortal, not being able to be killed by the gas or the cunts. I then discovered I had infinite fire eggs, but just those. After finishing the challenge, I was no longer immortal, but I still had the infinite fire eggs, and they stayed infinite even after I turned off the game and loaded it up again.

My assumption is that hit had something to do with it, but I haven't yet attempted to re-create the glitch but hell if I know.

natural glitches are awesome I played some random Super Nintendo game as a kid and some how I feel through a hole not in the game and went down level after level killing monsters that were way too strong and just getting experience and items, I had to go shopping with my mom so I paused the game and turned the tv off, and some nigger in my family turned off the system and I could never recreate it. It was like a circular well structure with bricks you were in and you were just descend deeper and deeper in the center hole after you were done killing the cluster of monsters, even though I don't remember the name of the game this had nothing to do with the main story or end goal of the game.

Metroid 2: Return of Samus on the Game Boy.

Discovered that going through certain rooms while CONSTANTLY mashing SELECT (change missiles) will glitch out the game's tiles.

This let me pass through to the borders of certain rooms into rooms that were not supposed to exist, and were just filled with random garbage tiles from the zone I just came from.

Since the first one I did was in one of the Chozo Statue rooms, I dubbed it the "Chozone"

I had a save file for Gran Turismo 2 get partially corrupted. The horsepower for one of my Nissans would randomly change when I'd load the game. Sometimes I would load the game and have about 12 horsepower; the car would barely move. Sometimes the car would have 10000 horsepower, and would go at incredible hihg speed, but be completely incapable of turning.

I was always afraid it would fully corrupt my save, but I didn't want to sell the car and not be able to play with it anymore. It never did fuck up my save.

I found an infinite money exploit in lego batman that was previously undocumented. In one of those boat levels, you can use mr. freeze's boat on a kind of enemy that can only be destroyed by a specific weapon. Hitting it causes you to get money and the enemies won't ever fully die and because you are freezing them, they can never hurt you.

i had some error in mount and blade warband where like all the textures for the ground were all replaced with this bloody looking face in black and red in a box, and it was all lined up over the entire ground
also the sky looked all fucked up too but it least it wasnt infinite bloody faces staring at you

Call of Duty 4 had several glitches on multiplayer maps where you could pop underneath and into sections of the environment, sometimes exposing a significant portion of terrain to cover. Gears of war had the same thing.

Maybe those aren't glitches but damn it Xbox Live was fun in the early 360 days.

There were loads of fun glitches in the original Metal Gear Online. You could change from spectator to actual player, but stay invisible to other players, and bullets had no effect either way. I used to chase players around unloading AK mags into them, and on their screen and everyone else's screens, all they saw was this poor player squirting blood everywhere and going "ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow".

My favorite of all though was a map glitch on the most commonly played map that let you get inside part of a wall. Once you were inside the wall you could crawl under part of the floor. The funny part was that if you were carrying one of the targets, it would appear floating over your head, and when you were glitched under the floor it made it look like the target was dropped and just sitting on the ground.

People would lose their shit over not being able to pick it up.

When I was playing Arkham City with my cousin watching I dived off a building and somehow managed to go through the floor. I kept falling seemingly endlessly. I was gliding around for a minute looking at the city from underneath and then I thought "Okay, time to die"

I was watching my brother play Doom 2 shortly after it came out. During the second level a npc Marine spawned at the start of the map. It ran ahead and starting shooting at enemies but died pretty quick. Never saw it happen again.

I was playing this really shitty game from Techland called "Chrome: Spec ops". Now, it wasn't a 'bad' game persay, but the production quality was through the floor.

Best glitch I can remember comes from that game. There's a point where you're on a forest path with a space-caravan, and you get ambushed. Well, one of the functions of that game is bullet-time. So I hit bullet-time and immediately kill everything that pops up to ambush the caravan.

Several seconds later. The person leading the caravan (who had zero speaking role up until that point) turns to me, and then flops over Oblivion ragdoll style with no enemies around. Then another character (who had not spoke beforehand) runs over to his ragdoll, kneels down, and screams in a very loudly mixed sound clip "OH MY GOD, THEY GOT BOB!", and then an ear-piercing shriek that blows out one of my headphones. Then 'Bob's ragdoll proceeds to fall through the world, never to be seen again.

I would have been pissed if I wasn't pissing myself laughing. I wish screen-capture software existed in that era, I would have re-loaded the save and recorded it.

In the first Battlefront, at least on the console versions, there was a weird glitch on the Geonosis map where if you let the AI pilot the gunships while you moved to the turret or extra passenger positon, they would spaz out and always crash the ship. We just called it the 'voodoo gunship'. I think it could happen on Bespin too, with the cloud cars.

I also once saw the AI fill up a gunship, lift off, do a verticle 360, and explode.

I had a glitch in New Vegas that disabled fast travel.

Happened after I somehow fast traveled out of the final hoover dam quest, but I didn't notice for like 10 hours for some reason. Didn't want to reset my progress so I just accepted it. From then on I walked everywhere.

The weird thing is, if I went to one specific point on the map (some town in the very south filled with radiation) I could fast travel from there, but no where else.

Was on 360 too so no fix.

Oh fuck you reminded me of the times I fell into the "glitch dungeon" every time I fell in a particular hole that had spiders coming out of it in the base game.

Same thing happened to me with the turtle rock bossfight. Standing inside of the head while killing it would teleport you as well, and it scared the shit out of me being young and not knowing that glitches are a thing that happens.

There's a Halo CE glitch that I read about and found amusing. Using a ghost you can clip through a wall that would trigger the group of covenant behind it but only if you used the control panel. Halo has lots of fun ones. In Halo 2 when you're fighting the final boss, you can get a vehicle into the area with you. Then, if you get Johnson to get into the vehicle, the game thinks he's gone and spawns another one. So you can fight the final boss with up to three of him, which makes it really easy since they're all spamming sniper rifle shots.

There is a F2P shooter, called Alliance of Valliant Arms (A.v.A), that used to have a pretty fun glitch. Not sure if it still happen.

Ladders were extremely glitch in this game, and if you kept climbing and dropping of them, your player entity (invisible entity that consists of the camera and the bullet source) and your body (visible + hitbox) would get completely desynched, your body stuck in the stairs, your camera free to walk around invisible killing everyone until someone broke into your team base and killed your body.

It was hilarious to abuse this glitch.

One in particular in Gears would put you under the train station in a black abyss, with the underside of the map visible above the player. If you parked a flying vehicle next to it, the Leviathan would unfold onto the flyer, which could then take off and carry the giant tank with it.

I had something similar to this but the reason was having too many AMX mods for CS 1.6.

Basically I had my own listenserver with 200+ mods installed and fucked around with. Eventually the mods started messing with each other. I had a bleed mod which sprayed a little blood if you were on low HP and another mod where you could give yourself any weapon.

It started with spectator cameras squirting blood wherever they were, as they were "low hp" or just dead I guess? So if you watched a player as spectator you could see blood coming out of midair behind him. As if this wasn't enough you could do the give weapon commands and get weapons equipped as spectator. You couldn't see any model or UI but if you started shooting with leftclick it would fire straight into the player you were watching from the blood cloud behind them. I think I mostly plinked a few people with a glock for funzies and thankfully most people didn't realize how to do it.

I really wish I had the server still, it was a terrible shitshow of mods and shenanigans but it had tons of work put into it.

For some reason every so often my PS3 Super Slim had problems loading the maps in Uncharted 3. Sometimes I could walk into an area and a chunk of the level hadn't loaded.

One time in Uncharted 3 whilst doing single player campaign, I was at a part where I had to climb out of a well and when I got to the top I was going to have to face some enemies. When I got to the top though, nobody else was in sight, and a chunk of that area was missing. I was confused as all fuck, so I decided to run up to it. When I did, character movement became really stiff and restricted. Nathan Drake was also forced into a t pose. A few seconds after it stopped, and I just jumped into the void and the map had to reload.

It isn't the only time it has happened to me in a PS3 game, but Uncharted 3 was the most memorable since it was the biggest I've encountered.

During my WoW days I got the swimming mount glitch where you just swam through the air instead of riding something. Trouble is it didn't fix itself until I switched mounts, I even logged out and I was still swimming through the air, I went and bought another mount to see if it would fix it and it did but I was in the hole a thousand or so gold.

Halo multiplayer shenanigans.

Me and my friends would try to fuck with the game in different ways. Abusing spawn points, sneaking ghosts into wrong places. There's 3 in particular that I can think of that were funny.

1) Getting back into the pelican. There's a drop off point where a pelican leaves you then flies off. But if you're quick enough, there's a few frames where you can hop back on and fly away wifh it as the screen slowly fills with green fog and you die.

2) Ghostwall on sidewinder. Ramping off a tank with a ghost at the right spot will fly you behind a wall that you can shoot people from.

3) Spawn abuse. There's several times in coop that you are supposed to trigger events that require both players in the room, and the autospawn usually ensures this. Not always. If you were ever expected to back track after activating an event, the second player spawn wouldn't work right. Enemies would instantly spawn near the second player (per event activation) but would fail to function. Standing in place, not attacking, but still capable of interaction.

I had a good one where Kenway's mouth was stuck in a rictus grin for a bit. Just kept the lips peeled wide back like he was at the dentist. The mouth movements continued liked normal, though.

I had a great one in the original where I'm certain something fucky happened to the save file because things just got weirder and weirder. An entire group of guardsmen just unfolded out of this one guard when I walked up to him. By the end Altair was randomly falling through the level, dying, then respawning with a clone that had all the problem inputs and reactions. If either died you had to start over, clone free. Which made fighting a bitch because you had to take care of two of them with only one set of inputs. You could walk up and assassinate yourself, though, which was amusing. Wish I had been able to record it. Never been able to reproduce it either.
