My casual friends can't play it because they say it feels "sluggish" despite being faster than CoD.After listening to them describe it and laying it a lot, I realize why they couldn't adapt. The only online FPS they've played is CoD, which, since MW2, has always been some form of 60fps consoles. But I can't play it anymore due to the fact that has no Ranked Mode of sorts and the low TTK is getting very stale for me. Shootouts aren't as exciting as they could be when everyone dies at 1 graze or you're killed instantly from behind of from a random bullet.

I wouldn't want the game to be super high TTK but a bit higher. Running around and jumping at 100kph is awesome and so is fighting midair but gets stale when it starts to feel more like a grinder and less of positioning and landing hits.

IW's movement mechanics are significantly slower, especially if you use the stim boost in tf2.

Titans are powered just fine, you can do some real damage to one if you're a good pilot, but they kill enemy pilots in 1 hit so there's no room for error.

Titanfall 2 was one of the best games last year. It had a good single player with several neat ideas.

The multiplayer was different than Titianfall one. Took a while for me to warm up to it but in ways it is better than the first because you can tell what kind of Titan you are dealing with.

No one played the original TF 'campaign', I didn't know who Barker was either, but he's a named character voiced by Liam O'Brien and he saves your ass when no one else could, while piss-wasted no less.
Also, it's a sequel, if you don't know the story from the first game and buy the second with the intent to play Campaign then it's your own damn fault forr not knowing a previously introduced character.

I love Titanfall, both games, but I never thought it would be as successful as CoD. Sure it could have been released better, and sure it has some imperfections and balance issues, but this goes back to the concept. Space robots just don't have the mass appeal of modern military and casuals don't understand how brilliant and how fun the game is because they don't play at the level needed to really enjoy it. This game is all about being a new experience, refining and combining old mechancis with new school design form multiple styles of FPS (old school arena to golden age cod to mirror's edge to modern hero and some in between). The pilot combat encourages realtime 3D maneuvering and tactics in a way that few other games have before, while the titans demand more careful timing and more focus for long fights than any engagement in CoD. The design is just too unfamiliar and too hardcore. The skill gap between babbys, nubs, tryhards, and savants is so evident from the very beginning that it would scare any normie off. Like Quake, either they play it for hours and still don't understand the basics or they get hammered so hard that they never get a chance to learn.

All of this doesn't -necessarily- make Titanfall a good game, but it makes it a gamers' game. You didn't see casuals picking up Arcana Heart or Total Annihilation when those were relevant. They'd rather Soulcalibur or Age of Empires - both great games, but with more universal aesthetic appeal and not nearly as intimidating.

it's funny that most of that wasn't an issue in tf1, it was easier to get into, gid gud and you could even enjoy matches that were a stomp.
