I just can't stop myself from loving Stellaris despite /v/ hivemind hate

>it's a dessert world
>Get the ancient terraforming device event
>Activate that fucker
>Arakis becomes a Gaia world

There is no hate for the game itself, just hate for the Parajew business model of releasing a gimped base game at full price, and then full priced "expansions" that add core stuff that should have been there a launch.
Do I need to show the CKII store page to make my point?
>>378680383
>Do I need to show the CKII store page to make my point?
No, but you can make a list of things that were in the ck1, but were butchered in the ck2 for the future dlc
There literally nothing wrong with spending years of supporting and future developing your game
From what I've seen of the game it has a good base but it still needs at least two expansions with lots of meaningful additions before it's actually fun to play the whole way through
>>378680080
I want to play a neat PC space game /v/.
What should I play?It must be sold on GOG
>>378680080
Stellaris is a game I want to love. It's horrible to play but I can't stop because I just want it to be fun so badly.
I'm playing through now and I'm worried that I'm at a fairly boring period.
I've got 4-5 systems, but I'm not certain how far the way "done" I am with like tech leveling.
Now I've explored all of the galaxy, I'm concerned I've ran out of unique cool events. I know there's some endgame stuff like OP, but when does it trigger?
I guess I'm playing to autistically "max economy/science" and should probably just declare war on those dickhead expansionist neighbours right
Endless space 2 has a way better coregame with a lot more interesting factions/races/cultures/lore
>>378681370
the three endgame crisis trigger in a few hundred years after game start
AI rebellion if there's enough enslaved robot pops in the galaxy, Unbidden come if the player researches jump drives and uses them a lot, and prethoryn scourge comes if it happens to trigger before either the other two
for me the hardest part to sit through is the beginning. If you get a lousy starting neighborhood it can take ages to actually get anywhere
>>378681053
fuck off back to ur drm hate threads while u use just diffrent drm
>>378681370
Eventually there is no actual benefits to capturing planets because the ai is retarded and the time it will take you to fix the planets you could have gotten like 500 techs because lmao anti blob measures
>>378681854
What? lol
>Not blobbling excessively to simulate a bloated, inefficiently run galactic bureaucracy
>>378681983
>because lmao anti blob measures
Tallfags are ruining 4x games.
>>378680080
For a moment, I thought that was the X-Com event
>>378682146
I just want to conquer shit in space
>>378682121
I wish there was a good Foundation Mod.
>>378681983
That's kind of my concern. I've got a corner of the galaxy. There's some cool factions and stuff and they're doing stuff. One has these cool giant megastructure beacons and stuff. I've researched a ton of shit and my core worlds have people on them.
I've been at my max resource cap for ages. I just can't spend enough of it on anything. Do I just keep researching? Does anything fun happen or is it time for me to just start shooting everything?
>>378682597
To continue I really liked the Precursers quest line and collecting all the aliens. Goals like that were entertaining considering I expected a much more linear 4x battle shit.
>>378682597
Like the above anon said crises can happen which will probably fuck the state of your galaxy, because again, ai sucks.
Also I guess you could try to get psionics and make it so you kill the universe.
hivemind a best
utopia is worth it just for that and turning xenos into food
>>378682363
This one?
>>378682876
War declaration is still a shit that doesn't fit hivemind
Still the only 4x game that at least tried to do them right
>>378681053
Just pirate stellaris then
>>378683083
well they can't have you always at war like the scourge or something, you can't even take down a star port without like 2k fleet strength, you'd just spend the whole start harassing AI and getting harassed and never get anything done
No diplomacy is as close as they can really get to it
Right now, I'm a xenophobic warmonger empire that's conquered a bunch of planets, including a Fallen Empire. However, an Awakened Empire has conquered many planets, as well as another Awakened Empire planet, and the Unbidden are eating the galaxy too.
How fucked am I?
>>378684264
hope they're distracted by the unbidden or each other and try to take what you can
Best prepare your anus but you can probably survive
>>378684428
They're on opposite ends of the galaxy, and worse yet, opposite ends of my empire.
I can't play anything else. I went back and tried Endless Legend but the "end turn" button almost disgusts me now and I'm sure the same would happen if I go back to Civ5 or get ES2. Maybe it just needs to wear off, but I love real time with pause for 4X now, I thought it was just exclusive to GS.
>>378682876
>make Hivemind empire
>give them warp FTL
Well, that didn't last long. Next time I try it I'm doing worm or hyperdrive.
>>378681053
Please, gimme space games.
>>378685150
Just play Steallaris my dude, you're in a Stellaris thread.
>GOG
Just give up on that already
>>378680383
Not really a fan of these games but what you're saying is that because they continue to make content for the game, it's incomplete? Should they simply shit out a product and leave to make a new one? I thought a dev who makes updates to a game for a long time would be loved here.
>>378681762
What's unbidden?
>>378685334
What is meant to be implied with this image?
>>378685334
oops. rate me
>>378680383
This. I love stellaris, but
>AI can build ship classes you can't

At least you can mod it though.

devs only get love for long-term support if it's free long-term support
>>378685495
It's just one of those things people need to not be an autist about so they can fit back into their own group. Just like putting Metroid in the "Metroidvania" category. It's just easier.
>>378685394
Warp predators
>its a black hole sends you love poems episode
>>378685334
>nonadaptive
Some of the planets you'll be conquering will be hard to control if you plan on purging the Xeno scum.
>>378685625
Sorry.
>>378685612
I see. So it gets hate because /v/ is commie scum.
>Spawns in alien territory
>The guy won't open his borders to me
>Have to declare war on him just to get to these fuckers
>They easily assrape his pathetic empire and start infesting worlds
Fucking hate this shit
>>378685747
It's alright friend
>>378685764
also because it's just not a very good game
>>378685805
It's potentially my favorite strategy game ever, it just needs a couple more expansions.
>>378680080
I just wish it didn't make my graphics card crash my computer so often.
>>378685886
well there's no accounting for taste
>>378685764
It's also still broken a year later. You can just mass create the initial corvette design and win by zerg rushing because there's barely any maintenance cost for going over. Making all weapon upgrading pointless.
>>378685767MUGANI? HAK HAK HAK!
>>378685767
>110k fleet power off the back of fighting the unbidden and pals
>get the warning about scourge turning up soon, all their landing spots in our galaxy are my territory, a sector very close to my core worlds
>before I can jump drive my fleet to get there, their entire fleet has arrived
>not just the vanguard
>the entire fleet
>400k+ at least
>going to spend the next 10 hours of my game warping in and out of systems trying to snipe their small fleets
>can pretty much guarantee I won't be able to build enough fleet to hold them off
>awakened empire buddy won't help
>lose interest and start over
>>378680080
Because the beginning of every Stellaris run is 9/10 probably one of the best strategy games I've ever played. Then you run out of the magic midgame, if they manage to make the midgame even EU4 tier it'll be an amazing game.
>>378685705
>it's a best event chain in the game has a fucking .5% spawn rate episode
Paradox is truly the worst
>>378685394
energy dudes that come from the warp to fuck shit up
all the crises are the same, they spawn in a random system with hueg fleets and spread like crazy until someone stops them, the unbidden are different in that after they take enough systems another orange flavored unbidden will spawn with the same agenda but will fight with the blue ones too, and after some time a lemon lime variant comes along and joins in on the free for all
>>378686346
It can give you fucking +5-8 planets in your starting system outside of limit,
>>378686282
Just came in to post pretty much the exact same thing. Mid-game is absolutely intolerable and incredibly boring.
What do you lads listen to while playing?

What are some must have mods for this game? Can I mod the yautja in?
>>378685705
Considering the way the quest ends, the "black hole" really does love you.>get natural physicists when race already is intelligent with natural sociologists
>get tomb world preference and be able to colonize everything
>get a bunch of unique buildings
THANK YOU BASED WORM
>>378686063
aspect is retarded and didn't mention that point defense / flak batteries will shit all over naked corvettes
sure it works in sp to a degree but that's really it
space is actually really shitty, there should be a game about how shitty space is like how hard it is to move and how hard it is to stop moving and how far apart everything is
>>378687117
kerbal space program
>>378685705
>They hired one of the Fallen London writers to do some of the quests
>End of the Cycle goes full Mr Eaten
Decided to roleplay as a necrons ripoff, xenophobic species with very short lifespan that goes full robot bodies
Less than 100 years into game with my leaders dying every few years and I actually understood their hate towars all others races
>>378687525
>that dude left Failbetter to do a Stellaris DLC and a Dragon Age browser game instead of Sunless Skies
it hurts
>>378680080
I played Stellaris when it first came out, and I really fucking enjoyed it despite it everyone shitting on it and saying it was incomplete.
But if I play it again, I'm pretty sure I'll have to straight up pirate it. I buckled down and bought all of Crusader Kings 2's shit in the past while it was on sale, still spent an ungodly amount of money. Fuck doing that again.
>>378687748
>Less than 100 years into game with my leaders dying every few years and I actually understood their hate towars all others races
Constantly rehiring leaders makes fleeting races way too annoying to play
>>378686597
>What are some must have mods for this game?
I like this series so far, makes some female mammals look more female. Not a furry thing, but the cat species especially looks male as fuck and it bugged me.

Yes https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=687651597
There are lots of mods, but right now I'm staying within the ones that allow achievements for now.
