The point is that I'm not 12 years old. The biggest turn off for games like this was that you have to set back an uninterrupted 45 minutes to play one match, just like Everquest took fucking forever to do anything, but WoW changed the norm.

That said, I suck at them. I die on my way to go buy items, can't play a hero unless I looked up the exact items to buy and skills to train as I level. A single misclick and not only have you doomed your team, they hate you for it and you're stuck eight levels behind everyone else. And your next game and every game after that is on the exact same map.

Heroes of the Storm has:

Yes, though it depends on the map. Objective focused ones such as Temples and Cursed Hollow allow him to push lanes while the rest of your team pokes the objective. His ult turns it back to a 5v5 by cloning a hero temporarily, and being able to double up on stuns/burst is tremendous in a fight. He's not as strong as he used to be but his ability to be anywhere on the map can also be very terrifying.

All three of those games give you a 'here's how you build this champ' in game, while you're playing. There is no need to look up a guide to know why you build this, when the game also tells you what each items does while in game. The only time you would deviate from that build is if there is some grand reason for you two, and this is a simple thing to do once you get experience with the game you're playing.

I'm still unsure what the "t." is, but I get the gist, I think. To answer your first sentence, Smite was pretty much all I played for a year while I waited for Overwatch. I played quite a bit of Dota 2 back when I played TF2 everyday and I can safely say that every Hero has the same three items at the start to make a fucking magic stick that heals for a fourth of your health. And then items that could be helpful but no one uses because if you never played a hero before and you jump in a game and just buy what the game recommends (which both in this and Smite) you will almost always get called out by your team for having bought shitty items and both give twelve items that you'd need to read descriptions of and then find their crafting recipe and then lead up to building it, but can't because it takes four items and you don't have enough to hold the items needed for your claws or dominator helmet because your inventory is filled with a shitty leaves that heal 6 hp and a staff that does that slightly better. Mostly in Dota though. I don't think Smite had recipes.

Dota 2 had the OG TLV Meepo that is 100x better including competitive performance.

LoL has anivia which reborns from egg quickly if egg isn't killed. Difference is murky chooses where his egg will be while anivia reverts to egg form on site when killed.

Leoric is a tank with drain life spell and reborn. Dota also did this, but slightly different in the case of reborn.

Most heroes seem to have been "done" by the original dota due to the warcraft 3 hero mechanics + editor.


With heroes like aba and chogall I am happy that the hots team is willing to experiment at least some times.

granted parts of these games have a PVE aspect of gaining resources, but the strategy and teamplay elements of these games revolve around denying the enemy space to DO that. its not like 10 players just put their heads down for 20 minutes and grind gold, there are rotations, ganks, lane harassment etc, people trying to find space to farm jungle when they lose lane etc.

if you had played or possibly understood the genre you would have a better idea what you were talking about.
