There's a reason for the series' supposed last hurrah/hail Mary, they went for Marth's games set 2000 years later, and early appeals were Chrom being a descendant of Marth and using a buffed up Falchion, and a mysterious masked Marth himself showing up.

This is why Leif is my favorite. He isn't a broken lord that will stomp all over his enemies, but he isn't useless like Roy. He's a utility lord that stays useful even if he isn't the unit that's taking heads. And that fact is reflected in both the gameplay and the story. Of course he does become broken as hell in FE4, but that's a different game that takes place afterwards. Besides I love his solution to not having holy blood. Since he can't be the best in one thing he gets as good as he possibility can in everything.

New Mystery of the Emblem is unironically one of the best games in the franchise. Shadow Dragon is okay, no way near as bad as some make it out to be. Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light (the NES version) is not worth playing due to how dated it is. The OG Mystery of the Emblem is still decent enough, although I'm not a fan of having mounted units dismount for indoor maps since it criples them.

The game still had its core game play, characters, setting, and plot. This change didn't cut off anyone from playing the game like every other Fire Emblem game.

Its funny, because i don't remember any other Fire Emblem game having something like this. But the minute a new side feature gets added in for one region to test the waters, and gets removed, its the end of the world.

And its fucking Japan, where you literally have stores selling used panties, people get married to computers, and constantly enforces the "dont grope people on trains". That really says something when they were feeling "iffy" about being able to rub your virtual waifus face.

The way you're feeling is comparable to being mad at Mario Party for having a minigame cut from the final game.

I'm with >>378665674 in that I don't really consider Robin and Corrin any different from Lords that you can name and change their appearance of slightly. They have their own character, background, motivation, and act in a specific way in cutscenes that has almost no input from the player.

Corrin is shit not because he's an MU, but because of the way he acts. If he was locked into his base appearance he'd just be a normal Lord.

Kris is funny because he's just Marth's friend who wears silly hats but at the same time it's bad in a different way, because he's straight up a self-insert. Kind of like Mark, who says nothing but is talked to by Lyn and the main characters.

Kris is nothing like Mark, Kris does talk and does talk to others not Marth. Mark only exists when Lyn, Eliwood or Hector turn and talk to the player. That's the biggest difference I see between an actual self insert, like Mark and a player surrogate like Kris. When the lords talk to Mark in FE7 they're talking to you, when Marth talks to Kris they're talking to Kris and Kris responds with actual words that the player has no control over. Kris is a character that the player can manipulate the appearance and stats of, Mark is the player in the game world.
