Seems like they did this backwards during that era,well, we are still in that era since Sonic colors, Unleashed and I think Lost World did this too.

That was such an unbelievably bad choice I don't know how they ever convinced themselves it was a good idea. The instrumentals were great "Oh no a giant monster!" music. Open Your Heart should have been the victory lap song played in the final round when you've got the pattern down to hype you up for kicking the thing's ass.
