Ok kids here's what you need to know:

If you want to level in the early game, max out exp in cheat shop, go to 2-4 or 4-2, put everyone in a ten man tower, and kill things on +exp geo squares. Please note that doing this will make the rest of the (pre-postgame) game incredibly easy.

A curry containing 100 thimbles (lowest level fist weapon) gives 100% crit rate.

To reach lvl 9999 in any reasonable timeframe, a 100 stack Statistician innocent is a must. Making these is a fairly complicated procedure so please look it up for yourself, but get started sooner rather than later.

Honestly, I can't believe Disgaea is still getting shilled. The last good one was Disgaea 2.
They haven't done anything to improve the series besides making each games mechanics slightly different; that's it.
There's been no improvement on animations.
There's been no update on weapon models since a slight in D3.
The ultimatum of the game is still just to fight Baal, not to mention you STILL can't recruit him.
Each successor to the series adds long, horrendously drawn out stages to the storyline.
Over time it pandered much more to waifu bait and D5 is a prime example of this (le kawaii spells).

I would even say you're better off getting The Witch and Hundred Knight instead. Kinda like how people were better off playing Phantom Brave instead of Disgaea 2.

Let's be honest, if you have the choice to get it on PS4 or Switch you would be a moron to get it on PS4 because it and the DLC are more expensive than complete.

Tons of stuff. All DLC included, new story segments, some elements of newer Disgaea games were implemeneted (evilities in D3, cheat shop in D4). The Vita ports are pretty fucking good. But yeah, D5 already feels complete, so I have no idea what they could possibly add in a port other than maybe a new story segment like in the Vita games.

It has less content than the first release of D3, D4, and DD2.
You can say what you want about all the streamlining and mechanic changes, some people love it, others hate it, but the overall lack of content is an undeniable fact.

Is grinding the only appeal of the disgaea series? I played disgaea 1's story mode with no grinding and the gameplay was super bland and boring. I could tell that there were lots of things to customize about your characters and party through grinding but I only really levelled laharl and generally just used the same skills through the entire game.

Those game are barely comparable, it's just a standard SRPG that have big room for customization and grinding.
