It's pretty simple: back in the PS1/PS2 days they developed for 1 platform. They don't outsource the port so they have to use a more universal engine to make things easier.

As I said always: xbox is a cancer to video games. Publishers get greedy with Microsoft offers so they force the team to release day 1 on Xbox

Last I heard they dropped Xbone in Japan, though I don't think they've said word of if that'll also be worldwide. They've probably sunk in so much money and time into KH3 Xbone that they'll still release it. Don't expect any more Xbone games from them after that though.

My theory is that it keeps getting delayed to fit new Disney (and Marvel, and Star Wars) shit into it.
