When does this get good? I admit I'm still fairly early on, (just left the first dungeon and now I'm in the Hive) but this just isn't fun or interesting.
I'm not new to RPGs, but this is my first WRPG, am I just not the right audience for it?

Leave, disgusting weeb

Maybe this game won't be for you. Just go back to your precious Neptunia shit and leave us alone.

JRPGs are not really rpgs.
>>378591369
Jrpgs are derived from tabletop, so yeah, they are.
>>378590884
The combat never gets good. The game is about experiencing that strange world and its even stranger characters. Think of it as an adventure game, not a wrpg.
>>378590884
Infinity engine games don't get good, just stay tedious.
>>378590884
no, it's a meme. people've seen wall of text and they thought it's some deep shit.
>>378590884
I honestly feel like the game starts picking up when you get deeper into your search for Pharod. When you first leave the mortuary, that's usually your free time to get some exposition, learn a little more about the world around you, and get some beneficial sidequests done.
Make sure to visit Old Mebbeth if you haven't already!

It might be helpful to know what you like about RPGs. But, where the Infinity engine based games are concerned:
If you're looking for deep and challenging combat, PS: T isn't going to deliver. PS: T's strength is the writing and setting, as well as the ability to define your Nameless One based on your choices throughout the game.
If none of that grabs you, you're probably not going to have a great time.
Icewind Dale is much more focused on combat than any of the other Infinity engine games, and might be closer to what you're expecting - however, it does have a couple of caveats: a.) you have to make your own party, and b.) you're going to have to study up a bit on AD&D 2e if you want to excel.
BG 1 and 2 falls between the two extremes. Some say they're the best of the bunch, but I've never found them to be that engaging.
Just read the first page, when does it get good?

There you go
>>378591510
JRPGs are derived from WRPGs like Ultima and Wizardry
>>378591510
Yeah, but the Japs only cared about refining the easy part of tabletop: the combat systems. They don't care about choice and consequence in the game world, which is the other part of tabletop games. Something WRPGs try (and generally fail) to emulate.

Probably won't like it then. If you're huge into sound, atmosphere, visuals along with a genuinely good story than you'll enjoy it.
>>378590884
Never, it's a terrible game with a 4/10 fantasy book inside.
>>378590884
Quite possible games like this just aren't for you. As a JRPG player myself I can appreciate why people would like it but it doesn't really grab me and make me say "I must keep playing." I find the game interesting sure, due to the bizarre world and its design, but the story doesn't really grip me. Needs more evil overlords or psychotic geniuses, less moving in battles, more giant ebin spells, and more YOUSHALLBEASGODS

Why are WRPG fans so autistic?
Never. Try playing a WRPG with actual gameplay next time, like Wizardry 7 or Gothic 2
>>378593271
Lurk on /tg/ sometime.
>>378593294
>implying scrolling through a list of spells or trying to steer the boat that is gothics protagonist is any more engaging.
>>378590884
Play more wrpg first, planescape relies on subverting rpg cliches.Play both baldurs gate games first.
> does this get good?
>WRPG
no
>>378591781
If you're an RPG fan but never played a wrpg there's at least a 95% chance you're a weeb
>>378590884
>When does this get good?
It's good from the very first second. If you disagree, quit. Just quit. Go away. Nothing for plebs like you in here.
