The first two games did do that, but overall the plot was stupid, goofy, and full of stupid bullshit that made no sense. It was charming and had a nice presentation though.
The rest of the series is spin-off nothingness and it's just a hack-n-slash with boobs. The Senran series has also had major gameplay changes throughout it's weeb library. It went from: 2.5 D Hack and slash, Dynasty Warriors, to 3rd person online co-op multiplayer. Shit's more experimental than Sonic.

My first Senran Kagura experience was Shinovi Versus on PC and that game already sported 3 schools and 4 total factions and none of them seemed particularly out of place. I also enjoyed the Estival Versus newcomers.

Also the girls from the first games are distingushed and stand out enough character and design wise. Half the fucking cast in the newest games look like they hit random on an anime girl maker flash game and then added some tits. I hope to fuck the Senran Switch game lets me touch more than Asuka because she's shittier.

If by first 2 you mean the original and Burst, then I disagree. The story might have been cliche but it worked on its own.
SK2 did add a lot of bullshit, and the Versus games didn't really had any direction, but it seems like they've finally decided to continue with a real story.

Now if only the games themselves were better, but with Takaki's new studio having like 4 projects at the same time I'd rather expect more of the same and don't feel disappointed.

From my experience with SK2 and Estival on the Vita, it feels competent to say the least. I've had a few drops despite things being clear as day. Haven't played PBS, so I can't say how well the connection works there.

Hopefully they give most of the characters something to do instead of being in the back. It is good that the other characters with less focus finally got some, but the others character's presence screwed the story a bit. Add more costumes and a color editor too. I would say expand the movesets, but the game already has >30 characters, so make 3 unique actions instead of 1.

I have this on Vita and didn't even bother finishing it. Everyone says the combat is better but it boils down to more of the same thing but with useless systems that result to nothing more than busy work. You COULD do a bunch of aerial phantom raves or whatever they're called. Or just.... hit the guy. Mash the light attack,throw in some heavy. Doesn't help that a lot of the boss fights don't seem designed with most of the mechancis in mind.
