What's the Twin Peaks of videogames?
No, this fucker doesn't count. No it doesn't. This is a parody of it.
But Twin Peaks is also a parody.
>>378571963
It's the only one that comes close though
>widely regarded as a masterpiece
>follow up was trash nobody liked or cared about and was shit except for the ending
>this was later followed by a prequel with a a completely different tone
>>378571963
>tfw finished DP on PC last week
I usually hate story driven "games" but this one was just so good. Shame about all the crashes on PC though they almost made me quit
Closest not counting Deadly Premonition would be MGS.
>ridiculous with a straight face
>full of bizarre comedy which would not work anywhere else
>plot on a constant increase of bizarre twists and turns
>lovable and distinct characters from the main character all the way to minor one-off roles
>knows how to get serious when it wants
>>378571963
>This is a parody of it
It most certainly is not. Anyway, Link's Awakening.
>>378572574
>lovable and distinct characters from the main character all the way to minor one-off roles
No character is as lovable as Coop in TP.
>>378572574
Twin Peaks is self aware, MGS is not
Persona 4
>>378572718
No character in every piece of entertainment ever made is as lovable as Coop in TW, that's an unfair demand
>>378572720
>MGS is not self aware
What makes you say that?
>>378572871
Have you played MGS4? It's a trainwreck of writing.
F.S.R.
>>378573012
I was thinking more along the lines of MGS3 desu
but I see what you mean
>>378572620
We live inside a dream
>>378573126
The whole series takes itself too seriously especially around the endings.
>>378571963
>What is Alan Wake?
>What is Persona 4?
>>378573098
this game is too shitty to enjoy, but too bizarre to put down. been meaning to buy silver case
>>378571963
>This is a parody of it.
Apparently you haven't played Deadly Premonition, then.
>>378572620
>>378573342
"parody" is putting it lightly
>>378573247
Alan Wake was obviously very referential to Twin Peaks but it didn't really have much in common with it otherwise other than an obsession for trees and a central mystery
>>378571963
Ending was shit, and knowing that we probably will never get a Deadly Premonition 2 is torture.
But damn if the ride wasn't worth it. I love this game. I shouldn't, but I can't stop myself from loving it.
>>378573414
The ending was not that bad and the boss design was awesome (just the looks not the gameplay)
It kind of felt sad riding around the city after too
>fifteen year olds found out about twin peaks
>>378571963
>>378573336
I like games that use bad but popular game design decision as a pomo statement to mock the player for undertaking them, while the main character gets bitterer and bitterer. It was like Groundhog Day in reverse.
>>378574120
>t.16 year old
>>378574519
If DP doesn't count, then MF doesn't count either. Both are heavily influenced by TP to such an extent that they're basically fangames.
>>378574120
Is that a bad thing? I'd rather they watch Twin Peaks than the nu-HBO garbage that gets peddled as quality television nowadays.
>>378574519
Is this shit even translated yet
>>378571963
this was?
>>378575394
Yes, now she's just doing some fixes.
Silent Hill.
>>378573212
>Takes itself too seriously
>The huskies in MGS1
>Almost all of 2
>Twin Snakes
>The cheesy action and cues from popular westerns in 3
>Ac!d
>MGO2
>Segements outside of cutscenes in V and PW
>LEAVE THEM ALL BEHIND
At least try.
>>378576323
>Sniper Wolf's death
>Everything about MGS2's "tha future tha memes tha children" ending
>The Sorrow
>The Boss' death & the graveyard stuff
>Ebin Drebin's storytime
>Peace Walker's flashback shit with The Boss
>The part in PW that rips off Space Odyssey
>Ground Zeroes' rape tapes and I WAS BORN IN A SMALL VILLAGE dreck
>Pretty much every cutscene in MGSV
>Any fucking time the series talks about nukes
>>378571963
Is it any good
>>378576703
>Parts of a game means that the whole game does, as anon said, "takes itself too seriously"
You're cherry picking. It has elements of both serious schlock and B-action that are generally well-balanced and don't disrupt the game's pace.
>>378572507
>follow up was trash nobody liked or cared about and was shit except for the ending
I hope you're talking about season 2 and not FWWM.
>>378577084
Unironically one of my favourite games, but if you care about bugs and CTDs in games, I would recommend just watching it on Youtube with a silent player.
>>378577393
lol accusing me of cherry picking when you did the exact same shit, fucking arguing on /v/ is so pointless
>>378573414
>Ending was shit
The whole end sequence was good because it was the only part of it that felt like its own thing, while the rest of it, while enjoyable, was too derivative of TP. It is very unfortunate that D4 won't be continued though, it was one of the only one of those Telltale-style adventure games I enjoyed. Great soundtrack too.
>>378577084
yes but the PC version crashes will drive you insane
>>378572507
This.
Masterpiece.
Who is the Phillip Jeffries of Deadly Premonition?
>>378575806
what,
I`ve been waiting for that since long ago. source, pal?
>>378576703
>I WAS BORN IN A SMALL VILLAGE
I still read it with his voice.
>>378578718
HOT
SO HOT
>>378577927
damn that's a shitty ass filter you're using
>>378578653

>>378579063
I didn't take those screenshots.
First hour of Alan Wake, before it turns into generic third person shooter
>>378571963
Loved the game,I didn't proceed far due to bugs, fps drops and other shit which is happening on PC port.
Tried fixes but these gave me jack shit, maybe I'll try some other time.York character was brilliant, game was super comfy outside otherworld
>>378571963
Alan Wake.
>>378579514
>>378580754
Plus the "ending" was a fucking mess and sucked hot ass, so it had that in common with Twin Peaks.
>>378580520
My best advise for crashes is play with compatibility of dp.exe
Install DPfix for frame rate issues
If the game crash during a specific event like going out of the hotel or talking to a npc: smoke a cigarettes to pass 1 hour or two in game and try again
>>378580924
Tried all man, compatibility stuff and DP fix also used, funny thing is real problems started after 9 hours of playing,so I couldn't refund it
>>378579282
>Gemini is helping with the patch
This explains why RE1.5's work has been so slow lately.
>>378572507
accurate
>>378571963
What is the "James episode" of video games?
HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOooo
>>378581161
>tfw spent 30 minutes playing up to the fight in the deputies office that freezes the game, then 2 hours trying to fix the bug to no avail, and steam refused to refund my copy because i had it open for over 2 hours
Fuck the Yakumo.
>>378573012
MGS4 is the most self aware
>>378581972
it's the mandatory gauntlet of bosses you've already beaten before you can get to the final boss of the game.
Why is he so perfect Bros?
