Which games sucked you into its world and made you forget about the real one the most /v/?
Pic related DESU, Oblivion saw me through some shit.

Oblivion so much. Unironically it's the best tes game.
>>378558278
Every TES game does this for me. Even Skyrim. Yes, it's a shit game but they are all shit games in their own way.
Bethesda are just really good at building an immersive world like that. Maybe there isn't enough pontificating over politics and philosophy for the pseudo-intellectual college kids but do environment really, really well.

Comfy, say what you want about Oblivion but it has a serious good soundtrack!
>>378558278
Why was the early 360 period of RPGs so comfy. Oblivion and Fable 2 have the perfect atmosphere
i would really like to play oblivion if ai would find a mod pack that you just extract and the game looks beautiful again, but I dont have time to install and teste 2000 mods just to get the graphics right, thats the reason I will never replay

It was just before every game had to look "gritty"/depressing.
Not that Oblivion wasn't actually dark as fuck in tone if you were paying attention to stuff going on in the world.
to this day it continues to keep my entertained

>It was just before every game had to look "gritty"/depressing.
I'm not quite sure what you are talking about there. One of the big complaints about Oblivion when it came out was the bright and happy graphics after the dull and somber "matureness" of Morrowind.
The "everything has to be gritty and serious" shit happened during the 6th gen, not the 7th.

The likes of Gears of War came out just after Oblivion and brought in a wave of desaturated/brown looking titles.
>>378563113
Gears of War didn't start that shit. Most shooters were already desaturated and brown long before then, just take a look at the late 6th gen console shooters like Black and Darkwatch. And it's not just them, games like Silent Hill, God of War, Warrior Within, etc., etc. Dull, desaturated, grim, edgy, blah, blah, blah became popular in the 6th gen, not the 7th.

world of warcraft
just turning the musicvolume up and go explore
it was ridiculous how glued to the screen i was
i cant let my guard down one sec there are rogues everywhere
good times
oblivion is also a close contender mainly also because of the music
i think music is a big part of immersion in games

Not that one.
Gothic 1. I remember being a little kid and rp walking from the old camp to one of the mines and rping a guard. It was so autistic but so good at the same time. I had no friends also.

Oblivion was my first game on the Xbox 360. Before hand, my gaming life had been limited to Tony Hawks Underground and Crash Bandicoot. I mean they were great games, they all were, but the size and free roam of Oblivion was something I couldn't possibly imagine.
I kinda wish i'd never started though, or at i'd at least had some self control. I got it when I was 12, the beginning of comprehensive school in the UK, and it took over my life completely. No regrets actually, though. Thousands of hours well spent.
>>378558278
A lot have done that over the years, but considering how many games I've played in search of that experience it's actually a small fraction. The biggest ones for me were Ultima VII, Morrowind, and Majora's Mask. WoW in a sense though that was more for the community than the game world itself: it was a way to keep in touch with several of real-life friends and family who I used to play video games with before they moved a few states away. Now that nearly every multiplayer game is online the novelty of that has worn off, however.

Yeah, I like both Gothic games but the first one is the one I really got absorbed into. Maybe it's just because I played it first but for me the colony felt so much more immersive than the larger world of 2 for some reason.
Morrowind
Gothic
Fallout
Dark Souls
Ocarina of Time

Are there any roleplaying games on the PS3 akin to Oblivion that aren't Oblivion?
I'm to much of a scrooge to invest in anything new.
Morrowind

I see, you have no idea about TES lore?

Don't do this to me
Vanilla World of Warcraft, I remember hooking my computer up in the kitchen at my parent's house so I could BG and make food at the same time, true laziness and relaxation
Yeah I've tried vanilla servers, it's not the same.
