If you want to play Witcher 3 and GTA V at 60fps then your only choice is to buy a PC because consoles shit the bed there. Yet I get 25-30 fps in S.T.A.L.K.E.R, a 2007 game. And I'm playing it at 720p, low-med settings, and no dynamic light.

Same thing with ARMA 2. I get 30 fps max with everything on low. I didn't even try the third one yet, but I probably won't be able to even start it.

Consoles get released and comparable PC hardware costs more. By the 1 year mark comparable PC hardware costs less.

Consoles have exclusives (and to be fair halo XV is real tired and Darksouls clones are not at all creative) and cost less at release. PC's cost less after release and upgrade for less than the price of a new console.

Both are good options. Neither is objectively better than the other.

i built my computer december 2013. it cost me about 1100 for the computer itself id say,and with monitor+keyboard/mouse/mousepad i guess it would bring the total up to about 1350. I havent upgraded it sinse with a gtx 770, i7-3770, 8gb ddr3, 1 tb hdd (found a bunch of old ones i had later giving me an extra 670gb on top). i run most games max settings except new AAA's in which i just go to medium or high for 60+fps and usually more (i usually get 60-90 depending on what level/area in Nu-Doom). aside from graphics tho i greatly prefer kb+mouse for a lot of genres, but the real thing that makes it worth the money for me is that i have something to play games on, but it is also a fucking computer. i need a computer either way so i could buy a console + something for web browsing, or an all in one that i might have to upgrade every 5-6 years. i get a lot of games on crazy sales or key trading websites like barter.vg/G2A, my parents use it for business, i use it for school. seems worth it for me as long as you future proof it so that it meets your standards and mine aren't extremely high

I'll never understand this. PCs are used for everything, not just games. They are cheaper and more practical than laptops and infinitely more usable than phones or laptops. A fast CPU and enough ram (I still have 8 GB on Windows 10 and don't see any need to buy more) will benefit everything you do with it, and a decent video card costs less than a console and pays for itself with all the money you save not buying overpriced console games.

As long as you don't fall for the "PC enthusiast" memes you'll be fine. My first PC came with Windows 95 and it was the most expensive I've ever had, simply because of how cheaper everything got from that point forwards.

From my experience, the few friends of mine that bought a budget PC went on to bitterly regret it. When you're talking PC gaming, the meme that it's expensive really is true. You probably should aim for nothing less than $800 on a decent build. Something around $1200 would be the ideal.

I also like being able to easily mod games and keep my save files tansferable as well as having multiple back ups. I also dont care about playing games on release. My 1080ti is necessary for Witcher 3 and Doom at 4k. It's also just nice to know that everything will work on it no matter what, for at least the next couple years. And console stagnation + hitting the resolution ceiling means that my card will remain more relevant than the 980ti at this point in time

No game is worth spending $1500 on. No game is even worth spending $300 on. It's the size of the library that matters.

Lately I've been playing some GTA V, cities: skylines, Nier, Red Faction: Guerilla, VtM: bloodlines and a few other games.

Nothing amazing or that requires state of the art hardware but it's pretty nice to be able to run them maxed out (except for GTAV) at 4k without a hiccup.

I think "budget" PC gaming is a meme, as OP unfortunately found out. PC mustard race fags try to convince people that you can build a PC that's as powerful as a console for a similar price when it's obviously not true in practice. If you're not willing to spend at least $800 on a build don't even bother. One thing to keep in mind is that you can upgrade your PC incrementally after that though, so it's really just the first build that'll hurt your wallet the most.

But overall if you're gaming on a budget and want to play the latest AAA releases consoles are the way to go. With modern DRM and always online piracy on PC is not even an option anymore...

Meh, it's still a major inconvenience. Maybe it's just because I earn enough money not to bother with it anymore, I haven't pirated a game in years. Still, seeing the number of threads where people rage at denuvo-protected games not being cracked yet it can't be that great.

I don't remember major games lasting that long without a working crack in the 90's/early 00's. Always online really hurt on that front.

Also afaik denuvo shit has been cracked for a while. Generally you have to wait tops a month for a release with major DRM, really not that inconvenient a all. I cant think of a game that isn't specifically multiplayer that I couldn't pirate on a public tracker right now.
