Jesus fuck the first Kingdom Hearts was -comfy-

With those simple yet chunky character models, camera zoomed right up Sora's ass. The way the plot was more about the silly adventures of a young boy through a colorful kaleidoscope of worlds than it was about the convoluted machinations of hearts and nobodies and what-have-you's. The simple, up beat music that wasn't overtly grandoise and orchestral until the end parts of the game where it was thematically appropriate. The Disney villains, the Disney aesthetic, just fuck

Don't get me wrong, I still think KH2FM is the most fun and mechanically sound in the series, but something about KH1 just reels me in like nothing else

Kingdom Hearts 1 is honestly art, I feel like it does what it set out to accomplish so well.
Everything from the music, to the worlds, to the characters, etc. is done so naturally, and it really leaves a lasting impression. People might also talk poorly about the combat, but I honestly think it's great. Sure it's clunky in the early game, but later on it's really fulfilling.
