I remember playing wipeout on PS1 when it came out. Was one of the first games my dad bought. Always liked Fzero better though. Atleast you guys are getting a remaster/collection though. Enjoy.

Hello F-Zero fag here.

How does Wipeout compare to F-Zero? F-Zero X was my favorite game ever before I played F-Zero GX (which took about 10-20 hours to get used to for me). I've played a bit of Redout and I hated it because it felt floaty, which might've just been me being too used to F-Zero.

I also played Wipeout Pure for a couple of hours and found it sorta fun, but also rather shallow. This was before I played any of the F-Zero titles. Was I just ignorant or is Pure dumbed down since it's on PSP?

Also please ignore all baiters. It makes me sad to see people get rustled by some fags who probably haven't played F-Zero.

The best way I could describe wipeout, is that it's hydrothunder without the water, ships in general have more mass that you have to move around, they bob up and down and have inertia around corners, so they drift. It's weird but that's the shortest answer I can give.

Anon, they're two different games with different ships and physics. WOHD ships wouldn't work on 2048's tracks due to how overpowered they are in comparison to 2048's. 2048's weapon powerups also work a bit differently than HD's, which could cause some massive balancing problems.

Still, it's better this way. I wouldn't trust anyone to meddle with WipEout if not for the Psygnosis crew themselves.

I'd say try XL/2097, it's widely regarded as the best classic wipeout (inb4 the 3 se fags).
Other I liked are 3 SE, and the ps3 one, which is an improved version of pure and pulse.

This doesn't mean anything because the licence is sony's property, the end of liverpool studio is a tragedy but it doesn't mean the end for the serie.Imo Omega collection serves two purposes, pleasing the fanbase and checking if there is still an audience for those types of games. Maybe it will bomb and that will be the end of it, but you can't say a serie is dead while a game is coming, come on!

And no, it's not the same as F-zero, there is a difference between releasing a full game ( even if it's an enhanced port) and making poor attempts at pleasing the fans.

I wouldn't really call the collection a full game and I still think that the mario kart shit is teasing for something rather than a misguided attempt to please (still having hope in nintendo isn't naive, right??), but I see what you mean. F-Zero is more dead than Wipeout. And yeah, if omega does surprisingly well we might see something new, but will it be a worthy successor without liverpool?
