I bought the game when it released. It's always been a grind fest. PvP is just a race to get the best drops and best gear. PvE is soulless as hell and even when you and the rest of your guild go to fight a world boss that spawned, 99% of the time another guild will have camped outside and wait for the boss to die so that they can gank you before you can pick up your loot.

The only thing that is really novel about the game is the node system, but even then that is grindy as hell. If you want to make money you have to farm for very specific ingredients and even then the road to make the items is a fucking slog. It's a seemingly endless cycle and it's boring as fuck.

Don't be tempted by the price. It's bad.

I played for 6 months straight on Orwen, was in one of the big Veritas Alliance Guilds, they were great times. However after that alliance broke up and the release of some questionable p2w cash shop items a shitload of people pitched a fit, quit, and refunded their account. The game turned to complete trash. The gear scaling at end game is insane. The amount of luck or time to grind for these items you have to have to enhance gear (mainly accessories) past PRI or getting your alchemy stone to progress at all is astronomical. There are so many no-lifers on there you will never been on a level playing field with any of the relevant guilds. Not only that but certain classes absolutely get the shaft. My main was a warrior, which was fine until they released beyond +15 gear levels, after that we were placed squarely in the trash bin. It only got better when warriors got our awakened weapons first because it finally balanced our class. However once everyone else got theirs we were immediately put back in the dumpster. If I could describe the game with one word it would be 'Despair.'

It's not very good, been playing the trial for 3 days now and I'm getting bored with it already.

The economy/node system seems expansive but is hampered by arbitrary lower and upper price limits. I guess that's to force people to grind mobs.

The combat is pretty good considering this is an mmo but it's already getting repetitive after a few days. Don't really seem to be getting any new toys.

Got a lot of graphical glitches and pathfinding bugs so far too. The game also shits itself with fps dips way too often.

I'm glad I didn't pay full price on release. It's not even worth the 6$ in my opinion.

The funny part about this is pop-in is actually tied to your sight stat, so if you want less noticeable pop-in, you need to stack + sight items

The worst mmo i've ever played. Shitty action combat that is some how more boring than spamming frostbolts at rats and the rpg mechanics are absolutely bare bones so progression feels completely pointless.

Since I quit WoW in early 2012, I get an mmo itch now and again. Played GW2, Played FF14, played Tera, played Aion, played Tortanic and of them all, GW2 was the best. Mind you, I never stayed for more than a hundred hours or so in each of these.

Black Desert looks nifty but from vids I've seen, it is closer to Tera and Aion in aesthetics, where a lot of copy pasta assets are used in the environment, weapons, armors, enemies etc. For $6 at 100hrs is a lot of replay value so ignore the haters OP and just have fun.

It's dogshit. Enjoy grinding 16 hours a day to become competitive in PvP.
Only fun I had was on release before everyone went fucking insane grind mode and started one shotting you.

I played bdo from september 2016 to march 2017 and i loved it, and honestly its so cheap you should buy it, or atleast play the week trial. I love the combat and visuals and its such a huge world with alot of content for the price. Just jump in and play around, dont read guides and the subreddit for atleast a few days because it can be overwhelming, just have fun with the combat and the huge world, and if you want to be competitive with the top guilds it'll take a month or two but if you just wanna run around, kill shit, and maybe fish or cook and join some guilds and maybe do a node war or two, or even just play a bunch of different characters with different styles, then this is the game for you. VIP backpacks or some shit like that. Boosted EXP gains, full price selling of your items at auction (normally the game takes 30% of your profit), increased luck (affects drop rate and drop rarity).

Also pets that can auto obtain loot for you to make farming go faster, and now recently an item that makes upgrading your equipment less likely to fail. In this game there are no level gates for equipment, it's all based on how far you've upgraded it. So being able to prevent item destruction and make it more likely to upgrade that shit really gives you an edge.

How difficult is it to become endgame?
Here is my perspective on this game, I played it on release.
I have a job and a girlfriend. I could also grab people and beat the shit out of them while they were on the floor, but they just wouldn't die. Anyone playing a sorceress could essentially kill me in 2-3 hits. Beyond that, there were just certain players who were impossible to kill.

No one wants to be cannon fodder, just because the game is perfect for people who literally have nothing else to do. I'm not being condescending or anything, I don't care how people spend their time but if there's an imbalance because of that, it isn't the game for me. Is the game still like that? With whales that just own the shit out of dozens of people not because they're particularly skilled but they just spend hours grinding and perpetuating their wealth and gear through obtaining gear with their superior damage and vice versa?

Anyone who says its P2W 100% is a joke. That being said it has a few very major issues

PvE is literally no skill, all the bosses and mobs are just stat checks. You will literally never die unless you get so bored you fall asleep. This is how your entire grinding experience will look like: 1. run around and group mobs 2. blow your load 3. repeat step 1

Pvp is again, a stat check. Little to no skill involved, it is all based off of a stat called accuracy which levels are the main influence. My first pvp was when guild went to fight this guy who was level 53, I was level 51. I was like a fly to him, he didnt even focus any attention to me and I ended up dying to literally just collateral damage of two aoe spells not even aimed at me.

No nice looking armors or weapons unless you want to cough up $30 for ONE outfit for a single one of your characters.

Rng korean grind like no other, everything is rng, there is rng for your rng, there is no limit to your grind.

So what do you end up with? A grindy korean mmo which has a nice combat system wasted on shitty no skill stat check pvp and pve.

It gets a little bit harder in the sense that having bad gear will cause enemies to do larger chunks of damage if they do hit you. The guy a dozen posts above summed it up well; Run around, blow your load, repeat. All the way to the top.

You're still too low for gear to be making a difference but eventually it will start taking many attacks to kill if you don't upgrade.

The combat is great. When you're grinding, which you'll be doing a lot, it feels pretty smooth just because of the combat.

That said, that's about all there is. Upgrading is pure RNG with losing progress if you fail, the graphical pop-in is terrible and noticable. People joke about P2W and some people say it's P2convenience. The fact of the matter is, silver gets you everything in this game. So if you save silver or make silver through real life money, that makes it P2W, so don't be fooled.

The PvP itself is a bit of a joke. Even when all things are equal, people glitch all over the place due to bad servers or netcode.
