What's the best handheld for emulating NES/Genesis

A DS could do it, maybe a 3ds, but there's some issues with 3ds hacking going on right now. A PSP should also be able to do it but i'm not sure. Vitas can do but proprietary memory cards. You could find a DSi or a PSP at a pawn shop or on ebay pretty cheap, maybe craigslist.

But go ask /vg/, they have a homebrew thead.

I don't think the Vita fared much better

I don't know the latest details but there was a rumor going around that nintendo was kill online functionality for any 3ds they found running modded software. homebrew general would have more updates and details, though, I haven't checked.

No one is sure if the banning is still happening, seems the first day it happened was the biggest hit.

Don't use a DS for emulation. Not even mentioning the weak processing power or old emulators, the issue is screen res is too low. You have to use weird scaling options to get things like NES, Genesis, or SNES to fit on the screen. Even Gameboy emulation is bad, because at 1:1 scaling it's a tiny box, but you can't do 2:1 because the screen res is too low (it's less than twice the res of a GB). Instead, you either have to deal with a tiny 1:1 box, or use some 1.5x scaling which completely messes all the pixels up.

I have a DSi and it runs NES and GB/GBC games fine, except for some issues with certain NES games like Clash at Demonhead and Startropixs that require you to switch between perframe, pertile and puresoft modes because certain tilesets glitch out of nowhere. Genesis emulation is pretty fucky, you have games like Toejam & Earl and Sanic that run mostly fine, but titles like Magical Chase become almost unplayable.
