My problem with replaying pokemon games is that the world feels a bit stale. Kanto, Johto and Hoenn hold my interest for a couple of minutes before I remember where everything was, then I start to go... right, I did that.

The only reason I would replay old Pokemon games would be to catch a new mon and beat the game with it. Right now I want to main a Cloyster and ice beam shit to death. Newer pokemon games strike me as kiddy shit and overly-colorful, but that's just my autism

That list is a completely legitimate set of issues in the game. Granted, most of them won't be encountered in normal play and several are just exploits for the player to only ever use, but they exist. That doesn't make the game "bad", but it does mean the game has some problems.

These counterpoints are complete shit though. I can tell that this refutation was made by someone that just loves gen 1 and not someone that actually plays all the Pokemon games a lot. There are legitimate arguments for why the things in that list are not issues, but the redlines here are absolutely terrible. This kind of attitude is why I hate reading Pokemon threads on /v/ instead of /vp/. You're all a bunch of fucking casuals that don't understand the deeper mechanics, context, or lore of the series, but you all pretend like you do. Frankly, while I always loved Pokemon, I think my favorites are Emerald, Platinum and White 2. I've played since Pokemon Red on the original Gameboy, but those three really stand out to me.
