Why do companies make "gaming laptops" look like shit?
I just want an affordable, normal laptop with a 1050 in it :'(

Also are there any laptops with HDMI IN? i dont want to have to carry an extra screen to plug my ps4/switch into
>>
>>378420048
That one doesn't look that bad desu, except for the vents maybe.
>>
>>378420048
HP omen is what I've got, looks absolutely identical to a normal laptop apart from the stupid keyboard font. DOn't think there's any laptops with a hdmi in though
>>
>>378420109
yeah it isn't awful as they go, it's just annoying that they could have just not included the red LEDs/ red vents and it would look so much better
>>
>>378420048
Heat dissipation. Thin laptops tend to overheat.
>>
>>378420204
the omen has been tempting me, i've heard that the build quality is a bit shoddy though. Right now im looking at the yoga 720 and a few others that seem good

>>378420231
if only they could dissipate heat without the red LEDs :(
>>
>>378420327
>i've heard that the build quality is a bit shoddy though
It's made out of plastic and doesn't exactly feel premium, but its note going to fall apart or anmything
>>
>>378420204
>those red LEDs
ruined desu
>>
>>378420327
>he doesn't like red
Fucking Nvidia fag
>>
>>378420380
that's fair, i'm on a macbook rn (old hand-me-down) and they feel solid so i'm hesitant with plastic ones

Buy a Sager or Clevo. Other than its bulk, it doesn't look offensively "gamer" laptop
>>
Just buy a Gigabyte Aero
>>
>>378420048
>>378420626
Never heard of sager but this is basically exactly what you want OP. Except for maybe the weird shit on the back but it doesn't look too edgy.

Is late night/early morning /v/ this stupid
>>

>laptop

Choose one.
>>
>>378420794
that is actually pretty good, can't seem to find it in the UK though, will search harder
>>378420873
i have a tower at home, but don't want to lug it to uni and back every few months
>>
>>378421053
if you can't find one, you can find probably Clevo or Eurocom, which are just rebranded Sagers.
>>
>>378421247
cheers for the tip
>>
>>378420805
>>378420873
The memers are here, guys. Yay...
>>
I agree, I got one a year and a half ago, an msi, and it has this stupid fucking dragon on it, and stupid fucking angled back. I just wanted a flat one to put stickers on (aka never because putting stickers on your laptop is cringe).
>>
>>378420048
Don't buy a gaming laptop, for various reasons you'll hate it within a year. (heat/build quality/outdated as soon as you buy it)

It also sounds like you want to use it for college or something. Don't forget to get a matching fedora along with it, nobody will take you seriously with that thing anyway.
>>
Dell xps 15 has a 1050
>>
>>378421496
Yeah, like half the kids in my programming classes have MSI emblem dragons on their sleek black le gamer laptops. Meanwhile all the professors use macs.
>>
>>378420794
not the same annon here;
Sager sells clevo rebranded laptops. Clevo has many rebrands around the world. I've been using a 980m + 4790k clevo laptop for two years now with out any hassle. Cheap reliable and easy to maintain. You might wanna try before you buy tho, some models may not satisfy you with built quality or astethics.

Also don't ever bite interchangle laptop gpu/cpu bait. I know i did :(
>>
>>378420048
you can find non edgy hp omen versions with 1050 in for about 900€, less in the US
>>
>>378420048
oh hey, i have that exact same laptop.
though it's 1050ti instead of 1050.
there's 2 problems with the laptop though.
-the connected part between screen and main part (keyboard, cpu, etc).
if not treated carefully, i believe it will break pretty soon.
-the keyboard's position.
it's too far up high it's actually uncomfortable to uses it to play fps games (wsad)

other than that, it's very decent.

Get an Aero 14 or Aero 15 my boy.
>>
>>378422000
they look super slick, seem to be a bit too expensive for me though
>>
>>378421934
Acer is horrible.
people i know that uses Acer have their laptop broke down within the first year due to motherboard problem
>>
>>378420805
>>378420873
This ain't 2010 anymore, kiddos. Laptops these days can be as good as any desktop
>>
>>378422239
they are still heavy as fuck though, especially if you dare to buy a 17" monitor one
>>
>>378422239
good until after 1 year they fucking melt from terrible heat management because it's a laptop
>>
>>378421557

how much pussy do you get with that ma mang
>>
>>378420626

I have a rebranded one of these and the build quality is shit. The bezel has broken twice and it suffers from bad cooling.
>>
>>378423308
But where do you use it? It's too large to use it on public transport. It doesn't hold enough battery to use it when traveling. It's too large to use it on an airplane. It's too loud so you will bother people around you. It looks like shit so you can't use it in university or other professional settings.
>>
>>378422427
My G751JY is 3 years old and runs on extra hot i7 4860HQ and GTX980M

it's still running like a beast and I won't change it until Nvidia brings Volta to mobile at the end of the year
>>
>>378420048
HP doesn't know how to build gaming laptops, check MSI and Asus, they are the best ones

Expect bulky stuff, those beasts take some hardware to cool down
>>
>>378423756
I found it made it easier for lan parties or when I need to take my computer places.

>1050
Spend some more and get a 1060 or 1070 if you're not poor. The 1050 is shit, especially with the thermal throttling of a laptop.
>>
>>378424432
>that display and bezel
lel, things that will never actually exist
>>
>>378423756
It can be used like a desktop, except not nearly as cumbersome, could be easily moved around, could play your games when travelling, at university
>>
>>378424432
>2c/4t i7

the HQ mobile i7 have been 4c/8t for ages

you're thinking about the basic i7 U models, those aren't used on decent gaming laptops

This has a configuration with a i7-7700HQ and a GTX 1050Ti in it and doesn't look gamery. You get an option to turn the keyboard backlight to white or red, that's as far as it goes.
I'm pretty sure, for some reason, it's exclusive to certain regions though. The US Lenovo store doesn't have it.

This thumbnail also calls it the Thinkpad S5 which doesn't technically exist. The branding on the laptop itself also calls it the S5. It's actually marketed on the Australian website as the Thinkpad E570p. I have no idea what's going on there, I don't think Lenovo does either.
