Can you use it straight away or do you have to reach a certain point in the game?

Odachi is a weapon for crowd control, it's absolutely devastating when paired with a weapon that has a good single target damage like 1kat.
It has vertical attacks that hits demon horns, this makes all types of common demons a joke with it, it has iai move with retarded range.
Just get 200 toughness for hyperarmor and go nuts.

That sounds great since my primary weapon so far has been the regular sword. I chose the spear as well but it seems kind of underwhelming. Maybe I'm just not using it right though.
