How many mods are you running anon?

The hard limit is 255 ESPs/ESMs loaded but in the case of NV they fucked with how the game loads. It's been a few years but I think around 170-180 active ESPs the game gets highly unstable (meshes not loading, constant crashing etc.).

That's difficult to say from the internal perspective of then and now - and it depends on what design element you're talking about. Story-wise, I can definitely say Fallout 2 did a worse job on many fronts than Fallout 1, for example, and New Vegas did a lot of things even worse than Fallout 2, but did better on the world exploration front than F2 could hope to do based on tech alone (but which F3 and F4 did better, imo). Bethesda definitely has a better design-exploration-aesthetic than any game I've worked on.

Question: how do you make a good blend between RPG and FPS gameplay? Satisfying gunplay is very important, but that often clashes with the RPG elements. If you center the design around dice rolls, stat-weighted health pools, armor and so on you run into the bulletsponge problem that so many people complain about.
Do you make the RPG mechanics more transparent, like floating damage numbers a la Borderlands? There has to be a good way to visualize the "your character is fucking shit and that's why it takes 2 magazines just to kill this one guy" problem.

Absolutely fantastic.

New Vegas was written (and acted) really quite badly in the typical Obsidian janky way. Most characters delivered their lines in an extremely bored, anti-passionate manner that makes it seem like everyone was too bummed out to care whether or not you did whatever they wanted you to do, even if it was a matter of life and death. Everyone also drones on and on and on far longer than they really should.

Almost nobody except Mr. House was remotely likeable, NOBODY. And even then House was still an ass by most standards though usually at least it was only when asking him to spoonfeed you every bit of info.

I finished everything there was to do as a bog standard good karma in New Vegas in a single run, and now I really rather not touch it ever again. I have no idea how people can stand playing through the same damn thing over and over when it is this monotonous. Or trying too hard, as was the case with OWB and LR.

My issues are the fact that if in power armor, unarmed damage should be collosal. That and the fact that it should be possible to upgrade power armor arm parts with built-in power fist/blade. And the fact that in lore, PAs operated on a single fusion core for atleast 50 to 90 years. I understand that for the sake of gameplay FCs dont have such durability, but for the love of all that is fallout, why make them so short lasting (even with mag and Nuclear Physicist perks).

Also, melee in F4 is atrocious, borderline unusable, unless one uses that retarded Blitz perk.

Actually, Skyrim's is better than F4s. And no, appart from stealth kills with upgraded combat knife, the damn thing is is nearly useless one uses daggers or goes full VATS.

I mean, look at swings in Skyrim - one slash to the left, followed by slash to the right. F4 has only one - slash to the left with animation cycling back to the default stance and then slash to the left again. In Skyrim you do 4 swings for the two in F4. Also, blocking is quite frustrating - atleast in Skyrim you could hold block. In F4 it looks like a parry? If that is the system, they could atleast use shields.

The fusion cores could have been handled better if they had just kept them to the earlier models of PA (T-45 a-c) they would have been fine. Didn't need to shove them into suits that didn't need them.
