Microsoft revealed their own HMD and software platform years ago, Hololens (leftmost in pic) and Windows Holographic. Windows Holographic started being integrated to the public Windows release a few months ago. Hololens will probably never get real commercial release (latest revision is still like $3k and <40-degree FOV), but Microsoft has since announced major partners with a number of PC and laptop manufacturers (eg. Acer, Lenovo, HP) for generic DK2-clone HMDs, that they claim to be 'powered by' magical inside-out tracking as part of the Windows Holographic software.

Scorpio reveal could be huge, if it's as VR-focused as the earliest rumors about the system implied. It seems very likely Scorpio is going to be a significant part of their plans for the rolling lockdown of the windows platform, that have been underway for a couple years. VR Scorpio could be their ultimate poison pill.
