Ape escape was never meant to be hard.
It's just a fun party game where you catch monkeys and that's it, levels take about 5-7 minutes to complete.
There's nothing broken or challenging in them.

I'm still hopeful that we'll get a new proper AE game someday. If Toyama can convince Yoshida to greenlight a Gravity Rush sequel of all things, anything can happen.

I'd keep the gameplay the same but change the setting. I was thinking make it about a little boy or girl apprentice wizard who's master got trapped by a demon they were studying, and has to learn to use their special wand to go around catching the army of imps they summoned. The wand would transform into different forms, like a net to catch them or a rod to stun them and could be used like a broom to go fast like the hoop and could summon a little wisp for the RC car. Maybe there could be spells too, that use an MP guage like the transforms where you can turn invisible to sneak past stuff, summon food to lure out stuff, levitate items and stuff like that. Some imps would have a power level too where you have to beat them down to size to catch them, kind of like the UFO or Mech monkeys from the other games. Something like that would be pretty cool.
