The way I see it P3 characters had their own life, in P5 all the mobile conversations seems way too repetitive. There is no mistery what so ever,

P3 had the best story and characters but that's really not hard considering 4 had autistic characters and "surprise it's the gas attendant that started this" and 5 with its story forgetting elements of characters and just feeling incredibly generic.

5 has the best gameplay hands down.

The Persona series has always had kind of shitty gameplay, and P5 is a drastic improvement over 4 and 3; without even mentioning P2's duology, let alone the slow-paced grid battlesystem in P1, your statement is completely false.
I like the mechanics in the older games, but I can admit that the average JRPG fan might find the dungeon crawling and vanilla SRPG (in P1) systems perturbing.
Persona caters more to the average JRPG fan now more than ever.
I personally fall somewhere in the middle and think P3's the best. P3 with P5's handcrafted dungeons styled after themes in that game like lust, debauchery, and nihilism leading to mankind's despair and wish to die with puzzles built around those themes would be killer.
The one thing P5 nerfed was the velvet room, which sucked considering there's so many demons.
So, I guess you're 1/4th right.
