SS1 is good, but it felt like Doom with a bunch of systems tacked on. SS2 feels more like a survival horror game with more RPG elements. Both are good in their own way and are worth playing.

Once you get competent you can pretty easily melee nearly everything without taking damage anyway. Whenever I play now I default to hitting things most of the time since hey, may as well not waste ammo if I don't have to. And then I finish with like 3000 nanites and hundreds of bullets again.

Navy is the easiest to start with so you may as well go with that if you're new.
Take the choices that give you hacking, standard weapons, and then either agility or endurance.

Well I'd say it depends on the enemy. Some types like rumblers and wrench hybrids are easy to strafe around. Others like mechs and cyborg assassins have wonky hitboxes that can still screw you at meelee range. I prefer to take them out with grenades.

No. It's a very unsettling/creepy game. One of the few games where I would legitimately run and hide with my back pressed in a corner so nothing could sneak up on me while I recovered.

SS2 scared me a lot too. The atmosphere is really unsettling. I had to abuse save spamming to get myself through most of it. By the end of the game I was powerful enough that nothing was much of a threat and the game lost a lot of its scariness.

I highly recommend play through it anyway. SS2 immediately became one of my all time favorite games.

Go to the weapons tutorial and keep picking up ammo (it respawns since it's training, so you can take as much as you want). Now stand in front of the exit and then open your inventory and pick up the ammo like you're going to drag it to another slot, but don't actually move it anywhere, just walk out holding it.
That's it, all the ammo you want. You may as well just use the actual cheats if you're going to be like that, though. I mean, you're pretty much cheating already.

Ss2 is not scary in the slightest. It MIGHT'VE been a little bit scary if there weren't the crazy space-age techno tracks playing all the time. Not that they're bad, don't get me wrong, but it hypes the game to the point where you just feel like a sci-fi movie killing machine. It just isn't scary.

It was pretty scary back in the day when it came out (especially those hybrids and their eerie-as-fuck voices), but replaying it today I don't find it scary at all.
Of course, I was also a hell of a lot younger back then.

The level designs are somewhat creepy, sure, with all that empty space and poor lighting. But with rave music playing as the game's soundtrack, it kinda takes away from that atmosphere.
