>CRPG - computer role playing game
Explain why this is still genre, why is separate from JRPG, WRPG, ARPG, MMORPG, and why you're still using the term when it defines nothing
>>
I've never seen anyone use CRPG or ARPG before
>>
>>378244218
cRPG is classic RPG? And it's the same thing as an wRPG?
>>
Because before there was only pen and paper rpg and then people started creating computerRPGs
>>
>>378244218
it's just a marketing term invented by Obsidian to make it seem like Baldurs Gate clones were a genre. Nobody has geniunely called games "CRPGs" since the early 80s
>>
>>378245560
Aren't all games created on computers first?
>>
Comouter Role Playing Game was a term coined by TSR to market their games like Pool of Radiance on PC. Before that FRP was commonly used and now CRPG has been brought back for Kickstarter marketing purposes.

it's called cRPG because back in the day rpg games were all tabletop, people these days just refer to old rpgs as crpgs because they aren't comparable in any way to what is considered and rpg now.
JRPG is defined by tropes and cliches and are more a glorified adventure game than rpg
WRPG isn't a thing that exists
ARPG is just some broad term for anything that isn't actively system heavy
>>
>>378245714
meant to be played on a computer
>>
>>378245714
no, RPGs were orignally pen and paper and dice games
>>
>>378245913
Those aren't video games though.
>>
>>378245747
>is defined by tropes and cliches and are more a glorified adventure game than rpg
And what is that?
>>
>>378245962
nobody said anything about video games
>>
>>378246127
It's implied due to the boards content.
>>
>>378246198
It's a thread about RPGs, RPGs encompass both electronic games and traditional games
>>
>>378246343
Yes, and what sort of RPG could only be created on a computer? Stop being an aggressive autist looking for fights.
