Celica at least understands that you have to either reach a peaceful solution or kill your enemy in a War. Corrin always wants to be as much of a pacifist as possible, even if a peaceful solution isn't possible.

Yeah, originally Jedah traps Alm's party on the dragon mountain and only lets them go when Celica and her party go to Duma tower to be sacrifices. It's still dumb that Duma actually kept his word instead of just keeping Alm's party to fight dragons until they die though.

Gaiden's plot was very bare-bones but that was one of the few things that changed from the original to Echoes. Like >>378249745 said, if you got Alm's group to the dragon mountain before finishing Celica's portion of Act 4 he would be stuck there and attacked by necrodragon spawns. In Echoes you can get Alm off the mountain back towards Rigel Village without any consequence. Also in Gaiden, during Act 5 Celica's party would occasionally take damage while you went through the final dungeon with Alm's group which affected how much HP they started with in the final battle. This also meant the reunion between Alm and Celica was very different, ie. in Gaiden it was just the scene where Alm and Celica were literally separated.

When you storm the final dungeon, Celica and her party are already fighting in Duma's lair, every once in a while, you see messages like "Saber was attacked! Saber lost 3 HP!" it was pretty much a tense race against time to make sure Ceilca's whole party wasn't wiped out before you got there. I understand why they removed it, but it was really cool

I don't think I would've been able to beat Duma without any deaths had it not been for Genny and her invoke.
