Is Nintendo actually still popular with kids? It seems like they're all only on smartphones these days.
>>378221661
Nope, just man children and fat women
Hardly.
>>378221837
to be fair if I was a parent I don't think I'd buy a switch for my kid. I had a cousin who went through like 3 3DSs and they're a hell of a lot more sturdy than a Switch.
>>378221661
They're not as popular, but kids still know what Nintendo is. This board just likes to meme about manchildren for easy jokes.
It's not like back when we were young and everyone had a gameboy, but a decent amount of the kids I work with still have 3DS systems.
No Switches yet that I know of though.
>>378222104
>>378222104
The fuck, work with kids? Pedo?
>>378221661
My 3 year old nephew became a huge Mario fan without any urging. He just likes how he looked, the sound effects, etc. it was kinda crazy to watch.
>>378222290
I'm a math tutor (and handyman and computer tech because they're cheap and don't want to hire more people) at an after-school care center.
>>378222421
>People leave their kids around some dude all day
PLEASE RAPE MY KID THANKS! What shitty parents.
>>378222573
Actually, we have a policy where no employee is allowed to ever be alone with any of the kids for even a second just to discredit accusations like that.
>>378222078
> they're a hell of a lot more sturdy than a Switch
I'd actually be surprised if that were true. Every DS/3DS I've ever owned broke on the hinges or R/L buttons, and the Switch has no hinges and every button is replaceable.
Both seem pretty tough to me but the DS/3DS has more failure points
>>378221837
> Purchaser age
Yeah, how many consoles did you completely buy with your own money as a kid? These are parent statistics as well as nintenbros.
>>378222919
fair point, I just think the screen being the majority of the system and exposed at all times would lead to breakage quite quickly.
>>378222104
This. Elementary school teacher here, kids love Mario and Pokemon but from what I can tell, most don't own a Nintendo console. Hence why Pokemon Go and Mario Run were so popular at their respective peaks.
>>378222970
Actually, if you read the footnote, the question asked was " What is the age and gender of the person in your household who had the strongest desire to purchase Nintendo
Switch?"
But that also brings up the fact that this was a survey sent out to people that linked an email account to their Switch and the response rate was 3.5%, meaning it's more of a test of who signs up for and responds to spammy emails than anything.
>>378222970
>What is reading comprehension
>>378222970
>Question: What is the age and gender of the person in your household who had the strongest desire to purchase Nintendo Switch?
Have you considered reading? I know it's tough to learn at a certain age, but it'd help you a lot in life.
>>378223014
Oh yeah, it's definitely more prone to screen scratches unless you have a screen protector
>>378223224
I've noticed this too. My little sister would play hours of MK8 and Smash with her friends when they came over, but none of them owned any game systems themselves. She also never had anyone to play 3DS games with either, which I was always surprised by
>snipperclips
>for children
>>378222970
>Yeah, how many consoles did you completely buy with your own money as a kid?
Almost all of them. It's called "saving your money for the things you want." Someday when you get older you'll understand what that means.
>>378223618
You were a weird kid. Most kids get consoles for Christmas or their birthdays and that's it.
A lot of kids don't get an allowance or anything like that.
>>378223618
>>378223709
Never really had an allowance growing up. I got 20 bucks every 6 weeks if I got straight As on my report card in elementary school. Used to go to the pawn shop and pick up a case of SNES games or PS1 games.
>>378222319
Nothing weird with kids liking stuff made for kids. It would be more disturbing if he was 15+ and still unironically played Mario.
>>378223507
those fuckers knew EXACTLY what they were doing
Tried to play SM3DW and MK8 with my millenial lil bros. They didn't care.
>>378223507

No. Nintendo is riding almost entirely on nostalgia.
Nintendo's marketing is now aimed towards young adults
compare the first Switch ad
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3c6MWsEE884
to this 3DS ad
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Dr7YFTP80g
even the New 2DS is marketed to young adults
>>378224748
That's because young adults are cool with kids.
This way they get young adults interested and kids don't get turned off, it actually increases the appeal to them.
On the other hand, using little kids makes it unappealing to even preteens, let alone teens and young adults.
Marketing isn't solely put who you're actually aiming at in the ads.
>>378221661
Japanese kids? Definitely. Japanese kids love the FUCK out of Splatoon
Western kids? Fuck no, Nintendo fans in the west are mostly grown men
>>378225402
>Nintendo fans in the west are mostly grown men
nintendogs are manchildren that can't give up on their nostalgia? who would have guessed
>>378224127
fuck you, mario is timeless
sorry sonic and sega didn't survive the fucking 90s like you wanted them too
>inb4 sonic forces and mania
first new sonic games in a while and im ONLY interested in mania because it LOOKS like a classic 2D genesis Sonic from 1992 and not some BS Sonic 4 shit.
Forces is gonna flop hard as FUCK
Nintendo is now going for autistic waifu fags.
They put waifu marriage system in fire emblem, made Zelda as animulike possible and is now putting fatass girls in arms.
>>378225710
not to mention the Japanese direct had the Senran guy talking about using HD rumble for titties.
>>378224748

This is even more recent than your ad though.
>>378225659
>flop
Not with the OC creator that appeases the literal autists out there.
>>378225659
>triggered manchild ramblings
Hey, I played Mario as a kid and that was the shit. But as I grew up so did my taste in games.
>>378221661
For the most part, yes. they mostly just like pokemon though.

nothing can be popular with kids with their price tags for hardware+accessories (you can literally buy several cheap androids with gamepads)
>>378226615
the fuck is this shit? a balloon squeezing simulator?

It's region free is what it is.

Seeing that in an official Nintendo video is almost unreal. I know it's Japan and all, but still.
>>378223507
Those faces made me rock hard playing the demo
>>378224357
First time they made me laugh in a minute
>>378223507
>>378224220
have you ever witnessed player character's idle animation in Locoroco? That's where shit gets real.
I have lots of younger cousins and nephews and nieces, they all just play tablets and phone games and eventually get a gamin pc and play cs go, dota and indie shit
I swear to none of them are even aware of what the switch even is or what ps4 games are coming out its fucked
>>378229552
A tablet/phone are kid's godsend these days. If I was like 6 years old and you told me I could play just about an endless amount of games on a single device I'd be ecstatic.
